Mrs. Lie, who recently returned from South Africa with her family after two years residence there, gave a most interesting talk on her experiences. She stated that South Africa is the most beautiful country to see, yet the life for some is extremely harsh and at times almost unbel- | ievable. She recounted many incidents that occurred in their personal lives very vividly. Mrs. Stella Brown expressed thanks to Mrs. Lie for sharing her experiences with the ladies. The evening ended with a lunch provided by Mrs. O. Martin and Mrs. B. Wise. TERRACE BAY NEWS October 5, 1967 WEEKLY REPORF FROM THE SCHREIBER DETACHMENT Total Duty Hours - 280. Highway and Secondary Roads Patrol led - 4,243 miles. Traffic - 5 accidents investigated. Damage resulted in a total of $1100. with no injuries sustained. 4 charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act. I5 warnings were issued and 47 vehicles given safety checks. In Schreiber Magistrate Court - 9 cases were pro- cessed where bail was posted. Fines totalling $305. were levied in 6 cases, 5 charges were withdrawn, | warrant issued, 3 cases were adjourned to a later date and | case was dismissed by the. Magistrate. ' Investigations - Charges were laid in 2 cases, under the Liquor Control Act. Various minor investigations were conducted including reports of prowling bears on various premises within the Township of Schreiber . Assistance was rendered by providing escort to Port Arthur for 1 mentally ill subject, RECREATION BRIEFS = by D. Courtemanche Ballet and Tap Classes - Registration for these classes held last week was quite successful. If you are interested in taking dance instruction, you may register during classes. Sessions are held every Tuesday, starting at 6 p.m. for persons 8 years and under, taking ballet; all persons taking tap should come at 6.45 p.m.; and persons taking ballet who are 9 years and over, should come at 7.30 p.m. Instruction is held.in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre and classes start Tuesday, October 3. Art & Craft Classes - conducted by Mrs. S. Gaulin began last Saturday morning and the turn- out was successful. Classes begin at 10 a.m. and end at |2 noon for those 11 years and under. For those who are 11 years and over, an after- noon class is held at 2 p.m. Both classes are in the large meeting room. Children are asked fo bring large plastic bottles ( such as Javex bottles) and scissors. Ladies Keep Fit Classes - There have been sufficient registrations for starting the class. First session will be Tuesday, October 10 at 8.30 p.m. (see Pg.15)
