Architeots! fees of $11,468.25 on a proposed school addition, for which approvel was refused by the Department of Eduortion, are inoluded in this total of capital expenditures. The Department of Educetion h-ve estimated that » grant on $5,105.00 of the above fees will be allowed in 1967. Recreation Committee There is no effective control on sales from vending machines. Revenues from this source have, therefore been verified only et the amounts for which receipts herve been issued by the secretery-treasurer of the Commit~ tee. The gross profit on sales of cigarettes and candies appesrs to be lower than should be expected. The recreation director who commenced his duties in April, 1967, was not bonded as of our report date, but we have been advised that application for the bond hes been made. The full cost remeining to be paid on three vending machines which were purch>sed during the year has been included in 1966 expenditures, in the amount of $3,885.91, as no approvel was obtained for the deferment of this expenditure to future yeers. However, this lisbility is payable over » four yeer period. The provincial grant on 1965 expenditures which is paid to the Township by the Province, has been recorded at the amount of $3,174.53 which hes been received to dete. However, it would appear that oe further amount of about $1,170.00 is still receiveble from this source. Recreation Sneck Bar Since the costs of our attendance at the year-end stockteking would appear to be excessive in relation to the velue of inventory on hend, our verification of the inventory at December 31, 1966, was limited to tests of the accuracy of calculations and prices. There wes no effective control on snack ber receipts We heve been advised that the Recreation Committee has transferred the operation of the snack ber to a private individual on a rental basis as of Merch 1967. Autometic pin-setting equipment was instelled during the year et a cost of $18,842.89. Funds for the pay- ment of this liability will be provided by the Township over the next eight years. AUDITOR'S OPINION We report thet, in our opinion, subject to the applicable comments above, the finencial transactions which heve come under our notice heve been within the powers of the municipality, the audit hes been conducted in accordance with the instructions of the Depertment of Municipal Affeirs, and the attached statements present fairly the financial posi- tion of the Municipelity and its related Boerds end Commissions as et December 31, 1966, end the results of their opere- tions for the year ended on thet date.
