Harness, Reeve GOD SAVE THE QUEEN FAMILY RE-UNION HELD AT TERRACE BEACH For the first time in thirty years the Fummerton family were all together at a re-union held on July 17 at the summer camp of Mr.and Mrs.G.A.Scott at Terrace Bay beach. Attending the event were Mrs.Howard Showers of Simcoe (Chuck), Mr.& Mrs.Percy Page (Dorothy), Mr.and Mrs .Bob Newton with Rob and John of Port Arthur, Mr.and Mrs.Cecil Fummerton with Jim and Sharon, Mr.and Mrs. Bill Ward of Fort William, Mrs. Ingrid Fummerton with Lorrie of Nipigon, Mr.and Mrs. Al Fummerton, with Anna, Ron, Darlene, Gor- don and Mark, Mr.and Mrs.Tommy Whent (Bern) Mr.and Mrs. Bill Whent (Florence), Mr.and Mrs. Eddy Nesbitt with Kenny, Terry and Danny, Mr.and Mrs .Frank Fummerton with Nola, Bob and Ina, of Schreiber and Mr.and Mrs.Gerald Whent with Rich- ard and Jerry of White River. A smorgasbord dinner was enjoyed after which Mrs .Ingrid Fummerton accompanied with her accor- dion an hour of old favourite songs. FRIENDS HONOR SAM KOSLO Sam Koslo, who recently retired from the CPR service was honored by twenty-five friends who met in his home at Walker Lake to surprise him. The evening was spent in dancing and a buffet supper enjoyed. Mr.Koslo was presented with a wallet and cheque in token of their good wishes. Mrs. Howard Showers of Simcoe is visiting her sis- ters and brothers here. Miss Annie Rattray of Ottawa is here visiting her brother Jack and his family. Jane Singleton of Fort William is visiting Karen Lidkea. THE NEWS July 28, 1966 PROPOSED DATE OF NDP CONVENTION SEPT.18 ~~ "Thunder Bay will be a brand new riding, sunround ing the two compact ridings of Port Arthur and Fort William. We will now have three provincial ridings under the Ontario Redistribution Act, where formerly there were two. The New Democrats now hold Fort William. We can win Port Arthur and Thunder Bay if we organize now and get our provincial candiddtes in the field soon." So said Mrs.Mildred Fiorito, speaking at a New Democratic Party meeting held July 19th in Schreiber Guild Hall. Mrs.Fiorito is the New Democratic party organizer for Port Arthur and Thunder Bay. A tentative date and place for a founding and nom inating convention for the Thunder Bay Provincial riding was proposed at the meeting--September |8th at Nipigon. C.C.(Doc) Ames, northern organizer, pointed out that the Nov.8th Federal election gave the New Democrats 34% of the popular vote in Northern On- tario. "Our support has risen sharply since that time as indicated by the Manitoba results. We have never had a better opportunity or more favorable political climate to sweep the north. This is our challenge. It is up to us." concluded the speaker . The club treasurer, Bill Mullins, presented the financial report. Local president, J.P.Guina, chaired the meeting and introduced the speakers. Mrs.J.E.Sheehan and Mrs.Douglas Oxley of Lon- don, Ontario and Mrs.Wilbert Facey, Harrietsville, Ont., are here for a few weeks. Mr .and Mrs.Dan VanKoughnett of St.Thomas visit- ed Mr.and Mrs.Charlie Pearson last week. Miss Carol Lalonde of Winnipeg spent her vacation with her mother here. Mr.and Mrs.Gerry Lidkea and daughter Alison of Fort William are visiting Mr.and Mrs .Bruce Lidkea and Mr.and Mrs .Bill Lidkea. Visitors in the Martyn Ryan home last week were Mr.and Mrs.Henry Antoniak, enroute from Toronto to Port Arthur, Mr.and Mrs.Wallie Kissell and fam- ily, Port Arthur and Mr.and Mrs.Arnold Lee and family of Kingston. Russell Macadam has returned home from Deer Lodge Hospital . Mrs .Frank Holland of Fort William is the guest of her sister, Mrs.Russell McBride, visiting others in the Bourguignon family.
