Photo |.McCuaig ANNUAL HOBBY SHOW SUCCESSFUL The annual Hobby Show of Schreiber Scouts and Cubs was held in the town hall with seventy=six entries by Scouts and 110 Cubs. The judges were Mrs .L.R.«McCuaig, Arnold O'Keefe and Gino Caccamo. Prizes were won by (Ist and 2nd) - Plastic or bought models, Michael McGuire and Peter Walsh, Hand Carved models, Calvin Niemi and Robin Smith Carpentry, Randy Bolan and Jim Power - Candy and Baking, Calvin Niemi and Jim Power - Stamp Collection, Kevin Cocks - Coin Collection, Kevin Cocks - Plants, Russell Deperry - Miscellaneous entries, Wayne Tremblay - Painting, Calvin Niemi and Grand Total Winner, Calvin Niemi. In the latter six entries there was only one prize. While it is not the intention of your local Council at this time to en-. forc e By-Laws such as By-Laws 445 and 463, Council will, and must, take action at a later date to insure that the municipality is completely rid of refuse. Consequently, we are asking all property owners and tenants to clean up their lands. Please place all refuse, rubbish, wrecked machinery et cetera in the rear lane of your premises. The Works De- partment will make periodical pick-ups between now and the deadline date, June 15, 1966. BE A CO-OPERATIVE,CLEAN CITIZEN LEGION AUXILIARY CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY The Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 109, celebrated their 19th Anni- versary at a dinner in the Legion Hall with out of town guests attending. Among these were Mrs. Ada Steel, district representative from Fort William, Lise Bougie, Joyce Mercier, Sadie Benko, Adeline Daley, Jean Fisher, Ethel Boyd and Dorothy Bal- lantine, all of Terrace Bay - Edna Matheson and Edith Jordon of Marathon. Mrs .Steel brought greetings from District No.8 and from Mrs.Banks. She urged that representation be sent to the Rally in Atikokan in September and to the district meeting. She said that at a recent meeting members were notified of an increase in the price of president's pins, bars for same and badges. Mrs . Bobbie Winters presented a gift to Mrs.Steel who had been welcomed and introduced by presi- dent Jeanette Gunter. Mrs.Steel had brought gifts which were drawn for by Lise Bougie and Edith Jordon and won by Edna Matheson and Maybelle Furlonger. Highlight of the occasion was the catering and serving of dinner by Legion members. The waiters, attired in Chef hats and aprons were David Gunter, Hobden Spikula, Frank MacDonald, Jack Winters, Frank McKenna, Bill Duncan, Bern. Paradis, Har- vey Stevenson, Ross Hiller, Len Hiller, Wallace . McCouan and Vic Thorpe (Terrace Bay). The dinner was served with military precision, waiters advancing and retreating to command.
