THE UNITED CHURCH WOMEN PLAN SMORGASBORD Mrs .Wesley Clemens presided for the April meeting of the United Church Women, St.Andrew's Church, when most of the time was spent in planning the annual Smorgasbord. The date was set for April 24 in the Town Hall with two settings, from 5 - 7. No general convenor was appointed -- instead various members will will be in charge of certain items on the elaborate buffet. Mrs .Russell Macadam stated she and Mrs .Fummer- ton will pack boxes to go to the Northern Missions during the coming week. Sewing convenor, Mrs. Oscar Niemi, reported two quilts have been finished and others are being prepared. A donation was made to the John Milton Society for the Blind. Members had answered roll call with donations to the Cancer Cupboard for hospitals. Following the business meeting Mrs .Fummerton showed two films--The Church in Trinidad and Together--UCW at Work. Mr .and Mrs .Robert Hutcheson of Toronto spent the weekend with Mr.and Mrs.Geo.Robson. Mr. Hutcheson is Sales Manager for Aircraft Marine Products. An unexpected reunion, after twenty-three years, was enjoyed by Joe and Gino Caccamo and Pilot Officer Frank Gorman. Mr.and Mrs.Gorman with their family, transferred from B.C. to Gander Air Base, were studying the road map when driving through this area and suddenly recollected that Schreiber was the home town of the two Caccamo boys who had served with him in the Air Force. When he appeared at the store Joe and Gino re- cognized their old friend instantly despite the in- tervening years. A Take-Out tea was the novel project plannéd at the regular April meeting of the Women's Auxil- iary of St.John's Anglican Church. This will be held on April 23rd with turkey patties featured. Dorcas Secretary Mrs.Bruce Lidkea asked for donations of good used clothing for families. Mrs. A.C .Rigelsford and Mrs .Robt.Gray were appointed delegates to the conference in Haileybury on May 25-26. A former member, Mrs.George Bailey of Fort William, was welcomed as a guest. Mrs.A.C .Rigelsford presided and the tea was served by Mrs.J.D.Bryson. NEWS April 14, 1966 LAKEHEAD CHOIR SINGS IN SCHREIBER A choir from Faith Chapel in Port Arthur were in Schreiber on Good Friday to sing an Easter Cantata in the Gospel Mission. With the group were Mr. and Mrs.Ron Sheffield, former leaders in the mission Corp.and Mrs. W.M.Duncan will attend the first annual dinner and dance ofthe district Ontario Provincial Police Association being held in Nipigon on April 16. Others of the local detachment will attend as duty permits. Mrs. Harold Sylvan, Richard and Lesley are the guests of Mrs.Sylvan's parents, Mr.and Mrs.Austin Cosgrove, enroute home to Calgary from Montreal . Mrs .Charlie Holmes is in St.Joseph's Hospital, Port Arthur. Mrs.Forbes Macadam and Mrs. Jack Handel are in Terrace Bay Hospital . Mr .and Mrs.F.V.Harness will hold a reception in their home on Aprit 16, from 3 - 5 p.m., the occasion being their 25th wedding anniversary . H.M.Ermel, principal of the Public School is attending the Ontario Education Association meet- ing in Toronto this week. Mr .and Mrs.Oscar Laine are spending the holi- days with their daughter, Mrs.Dick Remillard and family, in Sault Ste.Marie. Dr .Searles and his family will spend part of the holidays in Toronto with relations. Mr.and Mrs.Terry O'Driscoll will be in Renfrew with Terry's mother and other relatives.
