She also attended the North Bay summer skating school last year to receive coach- ing from Tilo Gut- zeit, former Ger- man figure skating champion and will attend the school again this year. DAVID SHIVAS WILL VISIT UNITED NATIONS David Shivas, son of Mr.and Mrs.J.A.Shivas of Terrace Bay, has been selected as the winner of a contest among teenage high school sophomores and juniors to take part in the 17th annual United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth this summer. He will visit New York as one of more than 1,000 student observers of the United Nations from Canada and United States. The project is sponsored by the Odd Fellow and Re- bekah Lodges of America through the Youth Committee of the Sovereign Grand Lodge. Delegates will study and observe the UN in action, see committees and commissions at work in the five official UN languages and learn of the vast work done throughout the world by various UN departments. They will visit the UN and the headquarters of the Canadian Mission to the UN as well as those of various other member nations. International House will be visited, there will be a three hour boat ride around Manhattan Island, an evening at Radio City Music Hall to see the famed Rockettes and a visit to the Empire State Building Observatory. David will be presented with a parchment certifi- cate and certificates of merit will be given to the other contestants at a date to be announced later. Sponsors who will pay for the week in New York and the Educational Bus Tour are Schreiber Odd Fel- lows and Ruby Rebekah Lodge. The awards will be presented by Wm.Jones, Committee Chairman.
