HOLY ANGELS SCHOOL HOURS CHANGED The Schreiber Catholic Parent Teachers' Associa- tion decided to try new hours for their school, be- ginning March first, with school starting at one o'clock in the afternoon and dismissing at eleven fifty-five in the morning and three-forty in the afternoon. This will be tried for one month giving parents due time to consider the new plan. Father J.M.Cano gave a lengthy address on Love . in respect to God, parents and children. The attendance award was made to R.Peche. The vice-president, Mrs.Melvin Glad, was in charge of the meeting. Lunch was served by Mrs.Leo Godin's committee. BUSY BEES PLAN HAT SHOW The Busy Bees group of St.John's Anglican Church held their regular meeting February I6 to complete plans for their St.Patrick's Day Hat Show on March 19th. The show will be held in the Church Hall in both the afternoon and evening and tea will be served during intermission. Mrs .Reg . Bailey presided for the meeting with thirteen attending. CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE MEETS Father J.M.Cano, at the February meeting of the Catholic Women's League, addressed them on matters pertaining to the recent Ecumenical Council held in Rome: the four constitutions, the Liturgy, the Church, the Church in the world, and Divine revela- tion; the nine decrees, the three Declarations-- education, other religions and religious freedoms. Mrs .Bill Cocks, who presided, introduced Mrs.F. A.Helmink, Diocesan president, who spoke to the group on the Vanier Family Institute, explaining its purpose and aims. The St.Patrick's Day supper was set for February 28 in the Guild Hall. Among standing convenors reporting were Mrs. L.R.Tremblay who stated the I7 Brownies recently inducted have brought membership to 69, making it impossible to accept more until next September. In the meantime, names may be registered with Mrs. IN NEWS * Arthur Moorey for acceptance in September. Mrs .Joe Caccamo reported she called on many residents who said they would join the CWL when more settled in their new homes. Mrs.Gordon Mc- Parland stated she had placed many Mass cards and sent magazines and books to the District San in Fort William. Mrs.Alex Power reported taking church bulletins and papers to patients in hospital. Mrs. R .Stortini, corresponding secretary, read a letter from Mrs.H.Shack, Diocesan report form secretary, urging that annual reports be fiied early. Lunch was served by Mrs .Rene Bedard's commit- tee. A serious fire in the home of Mr.and Mrs .Jack Ri chardson on February 16 in the early evening, was averted by the alertness of a neighbour, Debby Zielke. Debby, aged five, was at a window in her home when she spied smoke and flames on the roof of the nearby Richardson residence and called her father. Mr.Zielke promptly called the Richardson home where they were unaware of their danger and the early summons to the fire department saved the place. Miss Jo-Anne Comeau was honored at a pre-nup- tial shower tea arranged by Miss Sharon Webb and Miss Rose Huard in Mrs.Gary Speck's home. Re- ceiving with Miss Comeau were her mother, Mrs. Leslie Comeau and her fiancee's mother, Mrs .Tom Webb. Tea was poured by Mrs.J.B.Fournier, Mrs .Robert Fournier and Mrs .Edward Singleton, grandmother and aunts of the groom and Mrs .Sanford Chicoine. Miss Webb attended the guest book and Mrs .Bill Campbell the gift room. The servitors were Miss Huard and Miss Marion Prescott and Mrs.V.Speziale and Mrs.V.Costa replenished. Rev.D.F.Muldrew attended a United College con- ference in Winnipeg last week. Mrs .Walter Wilkes and Miss Gwen Hadley are spending a week in Winnipeg. Mrs .Fred VanKoughnett of Carman, Man. has returned home after visiting her sister, Mrs .Fraser Muldrew . Mr.and Mrs .Tommy Whent visited their son Neil in Winnipeg last week. Student teachers from Lakehead Teacher's College in Schreiber last week were Miss Shirlee Proctor, Miss Mary Giannone in the Separate School and Miss Holly Berndtsson and Miss Robena Whitfield , Frank Halford and Miss Barbara Winslow in the Pub- lic School. Mrs .N.AMcCuaig and Mr.L.R.«McCuaig with David Goodyear of the Ontario Dept .of Health, Toronto, T.B.Preventative Division, are making a survey in this area preparatory to a Mass Chest Sur- vey in April. Mrs.Anne Etches is in Montreal visiting her mother Mrs .E.A.Waywell. Mr .and Mrs .David Rigelsford are happy to an- nounce the arrival on February 16, 1966, of their chosen daughter, Debra Lynn.
