Photo, | .McCuaig KINSMEN PRESENT $1,000 CHEQUE The Kinsmen Club of Schreiber recently presen- ted a cheque for $1,000 to the Artificial Ice Fund. One of the Club's current projects is to aid the com mittee responsible for raising funds to instal artifi- cial ice in the Arena. ANNUAL SPIEL HELD BY CURLING CLUB There were sixteen rinks entered in the men's Main-Liner Bonspiel skipped by H.McLeod, Carl LeBlanc, B.Hayes of Terrace Bay, Jim McCuaig, Fort William, F .Romano, Marathori, R.Pellew of Chapleau, R.Kerr, Red Rock, S.Gordon of Nipi- gon, P.Doig, L.Godin, D.F.Muldrew, E.G.Cac- camo, H.Spikula, K.Ross, B.Phillips and J.Stitt of Schreiber. There was $500 in prizes plus a fly-in fishing trip for two, winner's choice of spot within the area, donated by Superior Airways. The first rock was thrown by Tommy Bolan, life member of the Club and E.G .Caccamo was bonspiel chairman assisted by club president Gerry Thrower. Dur ing the event the women served coffee, hot dogs and chili-con-carne and, as a wind-up, a buffet supper . Winner of the first event was Dan Kenney of Terrace Bay with Len Crockford, Carl LeBlanc and Bob Roberts. Runner-up was the J.Stitt rink. Winner of the second event was G .Caccamo with G.Riley, E.LeBlanc and G.Thrower. Runner-up was the Fraser Muldrew rink. Winner of the third event was M.Kerr of Red Rock and runner up was H.McLeod of Terrace Bay. The kangaroo was one of the ice sculptures created by students of Schreiber High School on the occa- sion of their annual carnival. | Photo W.Morrill Receipt lien iin calli Sioa ia LIBRARY BOARD MEETS Mrs .George Walsh was welcomed by chairman H.M.Ermel as a new member of Schreiber Public Library Board at the regular meeting on February 12th. Mrs.Walsh was appointed by the Separate School to replace Mr.Raymond Guillett. Library rental to the town will be paid at $800 for the year but the board will express themselves as most disatisfied with the inadequate heating. Mr .Ermel was named ratepayers! representative for 1966, 1967 and 1968. The Separate School re-appointed Mrs.D'Arcy McGuire for a two year period and the Public School named Miss Gwen Hadley again for a three year term. Payment to the Regional Library for five units of books was approved but the Board felt a very poor choice was offered in the last exchange and, rather than take an additional unit, will spend the money for their own collection. The book 'The Incompleat Canadian! was re- ceived as a gift from T.Eaton Co. Renewals were approved for both the National and the Canadian Geographic magazines. There are bound in volumes at the year end and have proved of great interest. The action of the signing officers in paying ac- counts of $429.33 was endorsed. Motions of appreciation for their services to the Board as chairman and secretary-treasurer respec- tively, was given to H.M.Ermel and Miss G .Hadley and they consented to carry on for this year.
