Vol. 8, No.50 COUNCIL QUOTES With the Yuletide season so close the Terrace Bay Town Council learned at their December meet- ing Tuesday that the second election to complete the slate for 1966 could not be held until early in the New Year. This will no doubt result in the present Council returning in January for at least one meeting, W.F.Strutt, Secretary-Clerk, replied on questioning. The Reeve, W.F.Adamo, returned for a second term at the first election December 6, expressed his gratitude to his Councillors for their fine teamwork in 1965. Accounts for the past month were perused before passing for payment: Library $233.90, Hydro $26,059.86 (which included investments), Town- ship $36,589.16 and Snack Bar $3,131.47. It was noted the Snack Bar receipts had shown a steady increase since taking the tables out, now getting it b ack to a 'snack bar' operation. A lengthy list of equipment within the Recreation Centre, originally purchased at a cost of $15,000 was pur- chased from Kimberly-Clark for the sum of $500. A motion was passed to re-appoint Mrs .Elizabeth Cruickshank for a three year term to the High School Board. Mrs.Cruickshank had been a replacement this fall to complete the term of office of Mr. Ken MacLeod of Hydro. An application dated November 24 to serve on the Recreation Committee was received from J. Adamo. The Police report for the month of November indicated a quiet month, minor accidents caused by climatic conditions. Forty-nine homes had been checked on request during vacations, Corp- oral Doyle reported. Councillor Cavanaugh stated he had notified the Centennial Committee in Toronto to stop any fur- ther negotiations on behalf of Terrace Bay, until a more agreeable decision could be reached. Questioned by Councillor Thompson on where. the disagreement lay, Councillor Cavanaugh agreed it had not been with Council, but it had not been a popular choice with the people and he did not wish to proceed. He was anticipating a good turn- out at the next meeting of the Centennial celebra- tions committee and invited Council to appear in a body to answer any questions on the Adult Study Lounge project in the Recreation Centre which they had approved. A copy of the Financial State- ment appears on page nine. About 83% of the employees of Kimberly-Clark are members of KC-ECF. They contribute a mini- mum of $1.00 a month to the fund--some give as much as $5.00 a month. Employees who are not members may join by signing a payroll deduction form at the Employment Office.
