Lorne Turner, after finishing his basic training at HMCS Cornwallis and Engineering Mech anics'on HMCS Crescent, is home on a five week FITNESS COUNCIL GIVES SKATING GRANT In keeping with its declared policy of promoting physical fitness (and better health) among Canadians the National Fitness Council has, for the first time, made a grant to Figure Skating to promote skating at an elementary level. . Club Professional Ivy Pattison and two amateur skaters recently attended a training clinic at the Lakehead. The twelve new national skating tests for beginners and elementary skaters will now be conducted weekly by Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club at no extra charge. Registrations for figure skating lessons will be accepted Saturday morning from 10 until 12 noon in the Snack Bar Lounge. Fees for the season may be paid in two instalments--$6 now and $6 on Jan- vary Ist. There are special rates for more than one skater in a family. The membership fee includes the group lessons conducted on Saturday morning conducted by the Club Professional, Mrs.lvy Patti- son. (more on page 4)
