Page 4 EXECUTIVE ELECTED BY FIGURE SKATING CLUB Ken Turner was returned as President of the Ter- race Bay Figure Skating Club for a second term when elections were held Thursday evening at the annual meeting in the Recreation Centre. Com- pleting the executive for the 1965-66 term of of- fice will be B.Hayes, vice-president, V.Galvin, secretary, M.Hubelit, treasurer and board of direc- tors M.Hayes, E.Boyd, D.Josus and Y .Rajotte. Ken thanked his past executive for their co-opera- tion, feeling it had been a hard-working year. Annual reports were presented with Ann Hartman giving a clear picture of the financial statement and the need for a finance committee to support the Club in addition to dues. The audit report was being prepared by Ruth Mitchell and will be sent to all members. The President expressed his appre- ciation to Ann Hartman and Elicia Evans-Smith for their tremendous support last winter. Every effort will be made to re-instate the Ladies Auxiliary this year and all mothers of skaters will be contacted. This Branch is needed to work in the dressing rooms, booth and on the finance com- mittee. A motion was passed to write Ivy Pattison, re- questing her services as Club Professional for the coming year. A tentative ice-time list was pre- pared and will be submitted to the Recreation Com- mittee. Recreation Director Buck Matiowsky ad- vised the members on ice time generally allowed for Figure Skating and submitted proposals to hold future events here. GOLF NEWS The greatest thrill a golfer can experience is to hit a "hole in one." This feat was realized by Don Hersey last week on the number six hole of the Aguasabon Golf Course This particular hole, 120 Yds.long, flanked by the river on the right side and with its elevated tee looking down at the flag- stick, is a constant chall- enge to the golfer's abili- ty to approach the pin hole. An approach shot with the ball from five to ten feet in toward the hole is always a thrill. The perfect shot of course is the 'hole in one." Inci- dently many manufactur- ers have prizes for "holes in one" executed with a ball of their make. Emil is holding weekly tournaments and, from these will establish individual handicaps. After a few tournaments handicaps can be determined more ac- curately. The entry fee is small and should be a lot of fun. The final two holes (7 & 8) are now completely see ded and should be ready for play by the latter part of July. Work will now shift to building Tees and improving the fairways. Emil will immediately con- centrate on the greens which are in better shape than last year and should show a marked improvement in the next few weeks. Balance of membership dues must be paid by June 15. Unpaid memberships will have to pay green fees ° School will soon be out and youngsters and teenagers are going to have a lot of time with not too much to do. We would suggest that they try golf and we are sure that they will discov- er a very pleasant way to enjoy their summer . Rental clubs are available and for those interested in buying clubs and not wanting to invest too much money, good cheap clubs are available for a small fraction of their original cost. Golf is no longer a rich man's game. It now can be enjoyed by everyone so why not try it.
