GOSPEL MISSION Sunday School at 2 P.M. every Sunday DM HACS BAND PRESENT POPULAR CONCERT Last Friday evening the Terrace Bay Band presented their annual Fan Fare Nite in the Highschool Auditorium to a toe-tapping and appreciative audience. Master of Ceremonies Jim MacDonald gave the introductory remarks as the Band opened the program with the Na- tional Emblem, the stirring British March. Lovely and lilting 'The Sleeping Beauty' by Tschaikowsky and 'Beguine Azul', a switch to Rio De Janero as the Band continued under the direction of Conductor Ellen Hodgkiss. The first solo part during the program was *Misty Morning' with Jim Mikus on his trumpet. Jim is a boy trained by the Band in the few years of its existence, and the popularity of his number was a credit to both the boy and the Band. The versatility of the Band was evident in two popular dance numbers 'I Don't See Me In Your Eyes Any Moret and 'Go Twistt, then another solo number, this time the big voice of the Baritone Sax as Don Stewart played 'Rum Ditty Rum' with some prompting from the Bandsmen,. Following intermission a few senior mem- bers of the Band presented dance arrange- ments with *Moonlight Walts', "You Go To My Head* and 'Tuxedo Junction* then the entire twenty-three Bandsmen and women played 'Nocturnet in the modern harmonious manner. At this point MC MacDonald called upon Band Master Bill Farrell to award the Gradua- tion pins. Assisted by Mrs.Hodgkiss, Bill presented pins to their small but very suc- cessful class this year of Mark Boudreau and Ted Brown, both E Flat Alto Horns and George Martin on the Trumpet. The MC paid tribute to Bill Farrell who headed up the Band and for the training involved. Bill then showed the range and versatility of his instrument in his solo part for 'Clarinet on the Town'. Not complete without a Hoagy Carmichael, the Band played his 'Georgia.* Another in the popular tempo was 'Z almost lost My Head'. Marilyn Chisholm turned from the percus- sions to the piano to give the very beautiful solo in Chopin's "Waltz in C# Minor', An- other lovely melody was presented by the Band in 'Tambolino' then in closing {Diamond Jubilee* a composite of seven well-known marches, Conducted by Ellen Hodgkiss, the Band con- sists of Jim Fikus, Fred Gould, Rick Lohr and Robert Gould on trumpets, Kurt Lerner, Sig Eyickson, Mark Boudreau and Ted Brown on Alto Horns, Bob Hale and Roy Bray on the Baritone Horn and Bert Lohr on Trombone, Don Brearley on the Bass, Bill Farrell, Don Whitley, Jack Caccamo and Stanley Megraw on Clarinets, : Bill Megraw,David Lohr and Dox p
