SENIOR FASTBALL LEAGUE NEWS (By Buck) The Men's Senior Fastball League is now underway with three local teams. An interlocking schedule with Schreiber will bolster the league to 6 teams this season. Each team will play 27 league games. Our local teams are Costa's, Caccamo's and Kenmac's. The Schreiber entries are the Angels, Yankees and Tigers. Games will be played every Mon. Wed. and Thursday with the latter dates being for games with Schreiber . In two early exhibition games the young team of Kenmac's chalked up easy victories over Caccamo's and Costa's by scores of 15-7 and 25-2. In the first league game, between Caccamo's and Kenmac's the score ended with a 7-6 victory for Kenmac's. The exhibition game played earlier in the week certainly had no indication of "Run-away" ball games for the rest of the season. After watching Monday's opener, this should be an interesting season of fast- ball, both h ere and in Schreiber. It will take a couple of weeks for some of the older veretan ball- players to work into shape, but look out for them in mid-season play. Fellows like Kurylo, Osmar and Hansen and Crawford look pretty good out on the field for the first time this year. Kenmac's are a young club with a good infield and expect big things with their No.I hurler, Billy Stachiw. Costa's, the big powerhouse last year, are relying on their veteran ball players and have added several young players for the extra strength. Tony Costa, their playing manager, will be the big work-horse for their club. They are quite weak on the mound staff. Caccamo's, after their first league game, could be the team to beat this year. Their strength will be in their hitting. Reports from Schreiber are that the teams are pret- ty well balanced and could upset any one of our local teams in this league. With the enthusiams building up in fastball, all we need is a little fan support at the games. FOR SALE - two three-wheel bicycles suitable for children aged 5 or 64-in good condition. Phone 3600 (Brown's). \ NOTICE - will the person who took the ible brown coat from the washroom at Centre, Saturday noon, return it STORK CLUB Mr.and Mrs. G.Dakin of Terrace Bay welcomed a baby daughter on May |8th. A baby daughter also arrived for Mr.and Mrs. R. Lalonde of Schreiber on May 8th. Mr.and Mrs. J.C.Gunn of Terrace Bay are the proud parents of a baby boy who arrived on May 25th MINOR BASEBALL-FASTBALL MEETING = (by Buck) A meeting was held recently in the Rec .Centre for all minor b aseball players and coaches and it was decided that fastball will be introduced for all Minor league teams, replacing baseball for this season. Over 30 boys who attended the meeting expressed their opinions and felt they would rather play fast- ball than baseball . A fastball clinic will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week for all Minor League players at the ball diamond. The fundamentals of the game will be shown to the players - also a series of films. The training session will be conducted by several senior players. We still urgently appeal to parents of all Minor leage players to volunteer their services as coaches and umpires. Mrs.S.Gaulin and Mrs.S.Boyd, Sr. will leave this week-end to attend courses at the Guelph Univ- ersity during the following week. They are sponsored by the Rec .Association, one in art & one in design. Mrs.Louise Brewtnall has returned to Ansonville following a month's visit with her daughter Jean Roberts and family.
