Rev .Hogan extended greetings of the Diocese and brought the regrets of Most Rev.E.Q.Jennings, Bishop of Fort William who, because of other com- imitments, was unable to attend. Greetings of the Municipality were given by Councillor J.P.Guina. Rev .R.J.S.Inshaw, rector of St.John's Anglican Church, praised Rev.Cano, saying he was held high in the respect of the parishioners and of the clergy of other churches in the town. Rev .Gallagher introduced the guest speaker, Rev. J.A.Callaghan who was a classmate of Rev .Cano at St.Peter's Seminary, London. He said that Rev. Cano was a brilliant student and, because of his ex- treme youth, required special dispensation to be ordained. He was the youngest priest ever ordained for service in this Diocese. He delighted the guests by recounting many amusing incidents of Seminary life and congratulated Rev .Cano on his accomplish- ments during his twenty-five years of service. Many congratulatory messages were read by Mr. Bourguignon. On behalf of parishioners and friends, Mrs .Harry Shack and Mr .Bill Stefurak presented an engraved scroll and a purse. Others who presented gifts on behalf of organizations within' the Church were Mr.M.Nicol, Gr and Knights of St .Edward's Council 3544, Mrs.W.Cocks, Catholic Women's League, Mrs.H.Leagult, Rossport Altar Society, Philip Moorey, Catholic Youth Organization; Lenore O'Brien, Catholic Girls Club; Mrs.L.R.Tremblay, Parent-Teacher's Assoc; Ricky Chicoine, Columbian Squires; Michael McGrath, Altar Boys. In acknowledging the program in his honor, a tribute to his years in the ministry, Rev.Cano also said he was deeply moved and deeply appreciative of the personal good wishes extended to him, not only by those of his own parish, but by others in the community. He gave a brief resume of his services within the Church, mentioning in addition to the regular Masses, the gratifying number of other rites he had performed. He also spoke with appreciation of the warm feeling which exists in Schreiber be- tween the various clergy and expressed the hope that he will be able to continue serving to the b est of his ability and health. He paid special thanks to the ladies of the parish who had worked so hard. The Benediction was given by Mons. A.J.Hogan. HOBBY SHOW HAS MANY ENTRIES The Boy Scouts and Cubs held their Hobby Show in the Town Hall when a large crowd attended. MOTHER AND DAUGHTER DINNER HELD Pat Dimmery welcomed the mothers and guests to the annual Mother and Daughter banquet held jointly by the Girl's Auxiliary and the Junior Auxiliary, in St.John's Anglican Church hall.
