May 20, T965 SEA CADET DAY IN TERRACE BAY - SATURDAY Once again Terrace Bay will be the scene of "Area" Sea Cadet activities as both Lakehead Corps "RCSCC Vindictive" and "RCSCC Craddock" pay their second visit to our Town, May 22nd and 23rd. One hundred cadets, Wrennettes, officers and wives will arrive Saturday as guests of "RCSCC Superior" the local Sea Cadet Corps. Activities will commence with a Parade from the Arena to the Shopping Area at 12:30. Here the fifty piece Cadet Band and Honour Guard will present the time honoured ceremony 'Beat The Retreat' or, as it is now known 'The Sunset Cere- mony'. FOR THE BENEFIT OF RESIDENTS WHO MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THIS CEREMONY THE VISITING CORPS HAVE KINDLY CONSENTED TO DO AREPEAT PERFORMANCE AT 6:45 P.M., IN THE SAME AREA, It is well worth seeing and we would advise those who plan to attend to pick their viewing spot early because from all reports space will be at a premium. Following the afternoon parade the three Corps will be guests of the local Navy League at a lun- cheon in the basement of the Catholic Church. After the luncheon visiting cadets will be taken to their billets to meet their weekend hosts. SAFETY NEWS FROM KIMBERLY-CLARK John Knight's No.2 Shift Steam Plant Crew Hold Safety Crew Dinner On May [3th at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel, the members of No.2 Shift in the Steam Plant were guests of the Kimberly-Clark Pulp & Paper Company at a dinner in recognition of over fifteen years of disabling injury free crew operation. Foreman John Knight was M.C., for the evening. Special guests included the Mill Manager, J.A. Ferrier, Plant Engineer, W.J.Farrell and Steam Plant Supervisor, Ted Young. Neil Cornthwaite showed some excellent slides after the dinner. Each of the guests remarked that each member of the crew, past and present, can be justifiably proud of their contribution to the safe operation of the crew for over fifteen years. There are six crews, or sections, at the Kimberly- Clark Mill that have operated without a disabling injury since the mill start-up in November, 1948. They are--No.2 shift in the Steam Plant, the Elec- trical and Instrument Crew, the Technical Depart- ment, the Administration Office, the Hotel and the Hospital . The safety theme at the Kimb erly-Clark Mill for 1965 is THINK SAFETY. The sections of the Mill mentioned above have proven that it is prac- tical to THINK SAFETY for over fifteen years, and work that length of time without a disabling injury.
