Again congratulations to Reg Payette who held the lucky ticket for the Money Doll Draw. At the joint executive meeting of the Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Sunday, a number of interesting ideas were put forward in the social and competitive fields. This Friday, May 7th, is an Anniversary date for Branch 223 and the Ladies have planne a social evening in the hall. 'They usually don't let us down for the midnight snacks. All members and their escorts should plan to attend. | ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Middaugh are happy to Ainsley Darya to Mr. Gordon Edward Brinkman, 7 son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brinkman of Kenora. The wedding will take place on June 26th, in the Terrace Bay Community Church. We spend the first 12 months of our child- rents life teaching them to walk and talk and the next 12 years telling them to sit down and shut up. CAPACITY CROWD AT COOKING SCHOOL The auditorium of the Terrace Bay High School was filled to capacity last Wednesday announce the engagement of their only daughter] COOKING SCHOOL (Continued ) evening when "Martha Logan" of the Swift Canadian Company demonstrated a variety of recipes taken from her "Party Book" copies of which were given to everyone present. An experienced home economist Miss Logant§ sparkling personality kept interest high as she gave a running commentary which included tips acquired not only through testing but in her role as a housewife. Sponsors of the show, Costa's Limited of Schreiber and Terrace Bay, donated fifteen hampers of groceries which went to the following lucky ticket holders:- Mrs. R. Beaulieu, Terrace Bay; Mrs. A. Little Miss Sandra Commisso, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Commisso, drew the tickets on the above and, at the conclusion of the show, presented a bouquet of flowergs on behalf of Costa's Ltd. to Miss Logan. Two Westinghouse stoves and a refrigerator were used in the demonstration, courtesy of Chapples Ltd. and the manager of the Schreibe branch store, Mr. Jack Johnson made the draws whereby Mrs J.D. Bryson of Schreiber received a $35.00 voucher on the purchase of a new stove. Mrs. Geoffrey Birch of Schreiber won a $50. voucher on the purchase of a new refyigerator and young Miss Karen Edmunds of Terrace Bay won the grand prize of a new Westinghouse stove. Proceeds from the sale of tickets to the show will go to the three churches in Schrei- ber and the two churches in Terrace Bay, courtesy of Costa's Ltd. Assisting Miss Logan in preparing the various recipes were Mesdames V. Hopper, R. Harris and H, Boudreau all of Terrace Bay. Doreen and Bill Kurylo and children were weekend guests of her sister-in-law and brother, Marilyn and Larry Spiess in Port Arthur, REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON CENTENNIAL PROJECTS The Dept. of Tourism and Information will hold a Regional Centennial Planning Conference in Marathon on Friday, May 7th, A recent letter from them states, " As you will see by the attached release, a regional conference' is being held in your area in May to acquaint all those concerned with what has been done and what can be done by various groups to celebrate the 100th birthday of Confederation.
