Bonspiel took place in the Terrace Bay Curling Club on Saturday, February 27, with five out of six schools being rep- resented .The rules stipulate one rink from each school - with two boys and two girls playing in al- ternate positions. Winner of the First Event and recipient of the Costa Trophy was Marathon High School with D'Arcy Reid (skip), Mary Curtis, Pierre Champagne and Pat Blanch. Mr.A.Costa was on hand to present his award along with individual trophies to the winners. In winning the event Marathon defeated a deter- mined rink from Nipigon-Red Rock High School skppped by Don Bianco with Brenda Rajala, John Skabar and Marlene Morrow. Winner of the Consolation Event and receiving the Coons Trophy (presented this year for the first time) was Manitouwadge High School, with Jerry Dupas (skip), Cathy Hogarth, Walter Brown and Bev. Merritt. Each received invidual trophies as well. Schreiber High School attempted to keep this Trophy close to home with a rink skipped by Larry Godin, aided by Wendy Weaver, Bob Hopper, Paula Hill. Terrace Bay High School was represented by Derek | Wills (skip), Marie Sadowick, Gary Gusul and Stephanie Synishin. Acting as hosts, this foursome' felt that it was only good: sportsmanship to let the the Trophies go elsewhere. And now = anybody for golf? INTER-SCHOOL BASKETBALL IN GERALDTON Last Friday afternoon approximately thirty-five students left for Geraldton by bus to attend the Annual Baske tball Tournament. On Friday evening they attended a dance in the school and then were billeted by Geraldton stud ents. Early Saturday morning all the teams and their cheerleaders atten- ded the opening exercises which were followed by the boy's games. Although the Terrace Bay boys lost all their games / they played hard and ' are / vigorously and, at times, Will Fit Right in With/All Your Dreams, were unbeatable. Lunch was served to all out-of-town guests in the Cafeteria and after lunch the girl's games commen- ced. The girls played exceptionally well, losing their first two games by only one point.
