Kettle) Last Saturday saw the regular league schedule end for the Pee-Wee House League with the Leafs win- ning the league championship. The playoffs will start on Saturday, February |3th. In the games on Saturday the champion Leafs de- feated the Hawks 6 - 3, with Papineau leading the way with three goals while Matuszak, Knight and Dashkewytch rounding out the scoring. For the losing Hawks it was Edmonds, Brend and Galvin doing the scoring. The Bruins defeated the Canadians 5 - 3 with Matuszak scoring two goals and Bouchie, Slattery and Randa scoring singles. Gerow led the Cana- dians with two goals while Zielke added a single. In exhibition hockey over the weekend, the Port Arthur North Star Midgets were in town and were the victors in both games. On Saturday they de- feated the local Midgets 4 - | and came back on Sunday afternoon to shutout the locals by a saare of 5-0. ART CLUB NEWS The Terrace Bay Art Club will hold their regular session on Thursday, February IIth at 8:00 P.M., in the Arts Centre. This week's class will deal with painting still life in oils. These will be: Membership - John Polachuk, Anaoual Show - Terry Dorland, Junior Gardeners - Walter Anderson, Work Program - Ken Turner, Pro- gram and Publicity - Garnet Valiquette, Soils and Fertilizers - Rudy Gerlach, Garden Plots - Henry Hermes. It was decided to give ranunculus bulbs as pre- miums to members this year. Garden Plots must be applied for in April and a charge of Fifty Cents per plot will again be levied on each plot for plowing. CATHOLIC GIRLS CLUB MEETS The second meeting of the new year was held by the Catholic Girls Club Sunday evening at 7 o'clock in St.Martin's Church Hall. It was preceded by the -- recitation of the Rosary. The Secretary, Mar- guerite Mousseau, read the minutes and Lita Marie Boudreau gave the Treas- urer's report. The various convenors read their re- ports. The girls discussed the uniform and ways to ob- tain money to pay for the The meeting closed with Father's Blessing.
