R.Gander, T.F.Whent, J.eWeHandel and We Cringle were re-appointed for. three-year terms, A,.W,Cuthbertson, Church Treasurer, pre= sented the financial statement and the pro- posed budget for 1962 which, after discussion of several points, was accepted. | Soe CHILDREN'S AID SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING The Annual Meeting of the Schreiber-Terracé Bay branch of the Children's Aid Society was held in Schreiber Town Hall on Jan. 30 with J, Herbert Dawson, of Port Arthur, as guest speaker. Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire, Secretary-Treasurer, presented the annual reports. seven meetings were held during the year with Mr. Dawson attending two and Lorne McCall, president of the Port Arthur Board of Directors attending the April meeting. Two hundred and thirty-one dollars and eighty- five cents was realized in the campaign for | funds, The Kimberley-Clark Buployees Charity}: Fund donated $286.50 and the St. Lawrence Corporation Employees Charity Fund sent $300.00 to the Port Arthur office to be used | in the work of this branch. Parcels of used clothing, christmas gifts 'for children and two layettes were distrib- uted. Miss Muriel At.cheson submitted a lengthy annual report as case worker in a district extending from Red Rock and Cameron Falls in the west to Manitouwadge and the Thunder Bay-Algouia boundary in the east. At present this office is giving service to 42 families involving 159 children, Another function of the work is with unmarried parents and at present there are six such cases receiving assistance and counselling. One of the most important phases of the CAS work is in cases where children become full wards and it is in this area where the great need for foster parents who will give affection, Christian training, education according to the child's ability, and physical care must be found. Many are assisting but still more are urgently required, Not all wards are adopt- ive casés - some have mental or physical disabilities and fora pitiful number the only drawback is their colour.
