TERRACE BAY KIWANIS HOLD BURNS 'NIGHT The Terrace Bay Kiwanis Club, for their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 23, held a Robbie Burns'program, Dinner was preceded by the parade of the haggis on a board, carried by two members around the table X led by Piper Don Lake. Two features of the program were solos by Clarence Buck and a variation on the life of Burns, and the read- ing of some of his poems by Des Evans-Smith, President Monty Paget expressed the Club!s regret in losing Tom Smith who is moving to. Sherbrooke, Quebec. The Ladies Auziliary will meet on Monday, February 5, at 8.15 P.M, in the Terrace Day Community Church, Mrs. Irene Goodfellow, Secretary to the Church Board will be the guest speaker, outlining the proposed exten- sion to the Church, A model of the Church, with the extension, will be on display and the ladies will have the opportunity to examine and discuss the subject. Cavanatgh, to celebrate the 11th birthday of Norwa Chesheys Sharon Ste Louis, Jane Valiquette; Cathy Jo Cotton, Betty Lou Cavanaugh, Linda Helmink and Colleen Kenney were entertained at gaties and dancing and an enjoyable party supper concluded the evening. Molly Harris celebrated her 12th birthday Saturday evening at the home of her grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs, S. Boyd Sr., with a mixed party attended by fourteen of her friends, Dancing and games highlighted the evening which wound up with a hearty lunch, The previous evening Molly had entertained two girl chums at supper at her home and a hockey game» Congratulations to four fine Figure Skater from the Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club, Jane Heenan, Cheryl Duncan, Elizabeth Hayes and Irene Stuart who competed in the Northern Ontario Competition at Huntsville.on Saturday Cheryl, Elizabeth and Irene, each of whom have their second test, competed in the Novice Ladies which included skaters up to an including those with their Third Test. In this Cheryl placed.fourth, Elizabeth sixth and Irene ninth. " Jane Heenan, judged in.the Junior Ladies for those between the fourth and seventh test, and who now has her fifth test, succeeded in placing fourth. Here. the competition was extremely close, only decimal points separating the Winning skaters.
