*% .™~ Vol.4, No.46 HOCKEY STARTS IN TERRACE BAY SUPERIORS BEAT FORT WILLIAM CANADIANS The Hockey season began last Sunday with an exhibition game between the Terrace Bay Superiors and Fort William Canadians which ended 6 - 3 in favour of the last year North Shore Champs. Superiors were not by any stretch of the imagination in playing condition, having had but four times on the ice this season. They did, however, keep pace with the Canadians for the better part of two periods and resorted to quick changes for the rest of the game, Canadians were no slouches as opposition; this being their first defeat of the season with six starts, and are probably in the shape that Superiors will not reach for the next month, The nearly 500 fans were not disappointed in the type of hockey displayed, Superiors took an early lead in the first with Brassard and McLeod each getting a goal before the game was seven minutes old. Walchuk and. Milliard put the Canadians even before the period ended. . Massaro opened the second period by putting the Sups up again but had the lead again cut off when Malloy broke past Hansen to beat Dobson. It was the last Canadian successful attempt. R.B, Spadoni, President of the Schreiber Group welcomed the delegates from Jellicoe, Geraldton, Beardmore, Nipigon, Fort William, Port Arthur, Terrace Bay and Marathon. Schreiber citizens make their nominations on the same day in the Town Hall between 7 and 8 P.M, While Schreiber residents will nominate for Reeve, two councillors, three Public School Trustees and one Hydro Commissioner all on the same evening, Terrace Bay resid- ents should note that a separate date - Thursday, November 23rd from 7.30 to 8.30 P.M, is set for nominating one Public School Trustee. Under the municipal set-up in Terrace 'Bay the Reeve appoints the various council- lors as chairman of a committee. These committees are as follows: Municipal, Personnel and Public Works; Finance and Fire; Police, Water and Sanitation; Health Welfare and Recreation; Chamber of Commerce, Public Relations, Town Planning - Parks. Besides the appointed chairman, there is one other person on each committee. These committees investigate and discuss matters directly under their jurisdiction and re- port back to Council who, as a whole, make any decisions on their findings. Paed, Director of Education in Port Arthur for his address to the Graduates Friday even- ing in the Terrace Bay High School.
