Page 8 TERRACE BAY NEWS March 2, 1961 ARTHUR _F., HADLEY BURIED IN SCHREIBER a nar tengo een Funeral services for the late Arthur Wm, Hadley, who died in Port Arthur General Hos- pital on Friday, February 24th were held at 2 P.M. on Monday afternoon in St, John's Anglican Church, Schreiber, A native of Cardiff, Wales, Mr, Hadley was born on August 10th, 1884, Accompanied pt? his wife, he came to Canada in 1907 and worked with the C.P.R,. until his retirement in 1950, Following his retirement he was Town Assessor until December, 1960, He served on the Schreiber Town Council for five years and was Reeve for six years, An adherent of St.John's Anglican Church ihe was also a member of the Brotherhood of '0.R.T, and Secretary of the Conservative Association in Schreiber for many years, The Funeral service was conducted by the Reverend J, Turner of St,George's Anglican Church, Port Arthur with Rev, R,J.,S, Inshaw assisting, Mrs, Inshaw accompanied the | Singing of two hymns on the organ. CHARITY FUND ANNUAL MEETING On February J4th the ist annual meeting of members of the Kimberly-Clark Employees! Charity Fund was held in the Recreation Centre, Chairman W,Baillie reported that 1960 had been a successful year, About 67% of the employees of Kimberly-Clark Pulp and Paper Company had joined KC-ECF and had con- tributed $'4,730,50, This amount, along with © the Company's donations, was distributed to 16 worthy charities, A canvass conducted by the Directors in November and December re- sulted in 61 new members, and a pledge total for 1961 of over $5,000. Approximately 77% of the Kimberly-Clark employees now belong to KC-ECF, The entire Board of Directors was re-elect ed by acclamation for 1961, FIGURE SKATERS HOLD ANNUAL CARNIVAL A sparkling array of skaters with flashing blades and glittering costumes held a captive audience Friday and Saturday evenings in the Terrace Bay arena when the Ice Frolics of 1961 was presented to the public by the Ter- race Bay Figure Skating Club, Under the direction of their Club Professional, Mrs. Ivy Pattison, the young members show well the development attained during the six years the Club has been in existence, Smartly attired, the senior girls marked time to 'Seventy-Six Trombones! to commence the evening's show before Dr.John Whiteside appeared with his daughter Lisa in their storybook trip to Toyland when Toy Soldiers, Fairy Dolls, Panda Bears, a tunbling Clown, Fairy Dolls, a Spinning Top, Cowgirls and a Spanish Doll cavorted before them, Comedy relief added chuckles throughout the program--a very new beginner in a dainty class of beginners, and the tale of 'Little Red Riding Hood!, The Guest Artists, Jennifer Wilkin, Gold Medalist; and Sidney Turner and Brenda Gold, Dance Champions of the Ft.William Club, were as always, a delight and inspiration to the local aspirants. Dance Moods dominated the second portion of the Carnival, and here the soloists, duets intermediate and senior girls and boy inter- preted the tempos of the Tango, Latin Ameri- can Rythm, Ballet De Brilliance, Rockin! Rythm, Sorta Blues, Polka Time, Exodus and lastly, Les Parisiennes when the entire senior members skated their finale accompan- ied by Mrs,Pattison. HORTICULTURAL CLUB PLAN QUESTION BOX The Directors of the Terrace Bay Horti- cultural Society met Monday evening at the home of Mr.J.Steen with seven members present and presided over by Mr.H.Goodfellow. Following a request by Town Council to replace rose bushes at the Cemetery and add other beautifications, the secretary was instructed to send out enquiries for the necessary plants. Mr.Goodfellow announced that Mr.F.MacDonald, Ft.William was re-elect- ed District Director for 1961, Mr,Ab Farrow had investigated costs of 4-12-10 and found that it can be purchased locally more reasonably, f Jr.Garden and Test Pot plans were discus- sed and a Suggestion Box will be placed at th next regular meeting, to be held Friday, March 10th at 8 P.M. in the Recreation Centre meeting--the President to advise on same, ener
