School Board was held last Thursday, Mr.Alec Gordon was appointed Chairman; Mr. L.R.McCuaig is Vice-Chairman and W.S.Harris was re- i : appointed Secretary-Treasurer, ei From available statistics it is apparent -- that Schreiber High School must be expanded, The erection of a new High School building or the formation of a District High School , are two of the possibilities being investi-. gated. 3 ea HERE & THERE IN SCHREIBER HIGH SCHOOL CHAIRMAN COMMENTS ON "RATING" Daily newspapers in Ontario recently pub- lished reports of ratings given by secondary school teachers on their employers, The 'confidential! report, issued to mem- bers of the Ontario Secondary School Teach- ers Federation recently, was based on replies te a questionnaire from 90 percent of Ontario teachers, The questions were sent out by the Federa- tion executive last spring and asked teachers to give their opinions on the local school board's attitude towards educational improve- ments, relations between teachers and the board and conditions of work, Donald Thomas, president of the federation, said in the report it was intended "mainJy as a help to teachers who are changing positions and also gives some general conclusion as to the opinion of teachers of their school' boards", He added that the report showed "an encouraging picture of the province's school boards," The Town of Schreiber was included in the list of places which failed the test, The Chairman of the Schreiber High School Board, when asked to comment, stated that he had been informed by the Principal that the questionnaire posed three questions. On the first two Schreiber was given an "excellent," The third question, which dealt with facili- ties, was given a "poor" since the present building has neither a science room nor a gymnasium, The inaugural meeting of the new High LEGION LADIES EXCHANGE GIFTS The Ladies Auxiliary, to the Canadian Legion held their regular meeting on January 3rd with Mrs.Thelma Olson presiding. A Bingo is planned in the Legion Hall, ten- tative date set for Friday, January 20th, Mrs.Pauline Moon reported on the Sick & Visiting Committee. Mrs.J.Morris reported on the child- 'ren's Christmas party. The Turkey draw was won by F.McKenna.
