Yours truly, P,J, Syvitski, Manager, OTe OT MARATHON'S NEW TALL OIL PLANT ~ As a further measure to fully utilize the potential value of the main raw material| wood, a new phase of operation; was recently started in the Marathon mill, The new pro- cess converts soap skimmings to crude tall oil. The crude tall oil is shipped to a fractionation planf built by Hercules Pow- der Company at Burlington, Ontario. In a detailed report in the Marathon Mercury last week it is noted that skimmings from Terrace Bay are shipped to Marathon for processing to crude tall oil. KAPUSKASING - Ever wonder what moose do in winter when snow is deep? Twigs and branches of/ woody plants are browsed, ° white birch, willow & aspen preferred but balsam fir, spruce, alder, mountain ash and dogwood also are eaten.
