The Northwestern Branch (Mills Group) of the Ontario Pulp and Paper Makers? Safety Association met in Dryden, Ontario on Wednesday, September 23rd, This was the Group's Annual Meeting and the Dryden Paper Company Limited were host to the Branch, The Annual Election of Officers for the coming year took place at this one day meet and during the morning session, routine business was handled, including various Committee reports, both sectional and province wide, Mr. F, T, Morrish, Safety Supervisor, The Ontario-Minnesota;Pulp and' Paper Company Limited, Fort Frances Division, and: General Chairman of the Northwestern Branch, gave a paper on "Accident Investigation", At 11,00 a.m., the Group wereconducted on a tour of the Dryden Paper. Mill, The afternoon session convened at 1,30 pem,, and was highlighted by several features, Mr, Verl Thompson, Safety Co-Ordinator, Kimberly-Clark Pulp and Paper Company Limited, and Phil Stuart, Electrical Depart- ment of the Kimberly-Clark mill. were in attendance at the above meeting. Blouw. Wives and husbands of members were guests as well as Rev. and Mrs, Inshaw and Rev. and Mrs, Crook, Regret was expressed on losing Dr. Blouw and his family but all the best wishes went with them for success in Dr, Blouw's new location which is to be Marathon, Upon receiving a gift as a token of appreciation for the work and keen interest shown, Dr, Blouw offered his thanks stating he had enjoyed living in Schreiber and work- ing with the Division, FILE 2 EVENTION WEEK OCTOSER 4TH -- 10TH. MARATHON HOST AT GUIDE RALLY Twenty-five Guides and two leaders from Terrace Bay attended the Girl Guide Rally held in Marathon this past week-end, arriv- ing at 7.30 on September 18th, Discussion groups were held Friday evening, and follow- ing campfire, the girls were assigned to billets in private homes, Saturday morning competitive games, fun games and a scavenger hunt kept them happily occupied with the afternoon being spent at Three Fingers Lake Campsite with further competitive games held for which points were awarded the different Companies, The winn- ing Company receiving a shield donated by the Local Associations to Guides and Brownies of Marathon, Terrace Bay and Manitouwadge, A cook out supper preceded the campfire which) was complete with skits and singsong. Mrs, D. Earle, District Commissioner, presented the plaque to the Ist Marathon Girl Guide Company, the winners with the highest number of points in competition, Sunday morning Church parade was held at both Churches with the Color Ceremony 'especially impressive with the four sets of flags. A total of 102 Guides participated in the week-end activities coming from the Ist and 2nd Marathon Companies, Ist Manitou- wadge and Ist Terrace Pay Companies. Mrs. Lois Downey, Guide Captain, would like -to extend thanks to all the parents who provided transportation to and from Marathon for the Terrace Bay Guides. The Guides hope to make this an annual event as it was voted a tremendous success by all the girls attending. SCHREIBER HIGH HOME & SCHOOL MEETING HELD Monday evening the Schreiber High Home and School met with a large attendance of parents and students. The teachers address- ed the meeting, spoke to the parents in par- ticular asking for their co-operation in regular attendance of the pupils, After the meeting lunch was served and a social hour was enjoyed.
