CE em te E 'TERRACE Bay NEws Circulation Terrace Bay & Schreiber TERRACE BAY DROPS TWO GAMES TO RED ROCK Errors and lack of hitting power proved costly to Terrace Bay in Sunday's double- header against Ked Rock Royals. Both clubs seemed lost at times, as far as baseball savvy went, but nevertheless put up an enjoyable showing for the fans in this their first game of the new schedule. Kolody and Lesarge had ten strike-outs apiece in the opener and for the most part of the game it was strictly a pitcher's duel. A few errors and five scattered hits pro- ved Kolody's down-fall and Red Rock came out on top 3-0, Terrace collected three hits off Lesarge as he teamed up with his brother to dazzle the Terrace batters with his selection of drops and curves. The second game saw Terrace leave men on base every inning and come out on the short end of the score 11-4. Red Rock weren't exactly powerful at the plate, but again errors proved costly to the Terrace Bay cause, and the Red Rock unearned runs were the big factor in the final out- come of the game. Baxter, although in trouble at different times throughout the game, seemed to be in charge most of the way as he tossed a mixture of drops and curves to completely fool the Terrace Bay batters. Wilkinson, the new pitcher addition to Terrace Bay, showed promise until he retired due to a sore arm. It seems he hasn't pitched for a year and a half and it will take a while to get his throwing arm in shape. However, the management of the team have great faith in him and are counting on his durability to see them into the T.B.B.A. Finals. Terrace are now in the cellar position due to their two losses, but with 18 games to go anything can happen. This week-end they journey to the Lake- head where they hook-up with Dinty's Colonels, Sunday afternoon at the Port Arthur Stadium. A_pre-weekend exhibition game is slated for Thursday night against Marathon at the High School Diamond and Manager, Jack Thomas, expects to iron out some wrinkles in his offensive and defensive set-up during this encounter, MINOR. HOCKEY BANQUET Tribute was paid to Minor Hockey in Terrace Bay Saturday evening when 152 boys and some twenty members of the Minor Hockey Executive, Ladies Auxiliary and special guests sat down to their Annual Banquet, sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary to Minor Hockey. The turkey dinner was catered to by the Catholic Women's League in St, Martin's Church hall.
