On that date,Guides from all points in Ontario, who have passed the required tests,meet in Con- vocation Hall with Guide dignitaries for the official presentation and convocation, _ Sandra, who entered Guides in Rolphton, Ontario, came to reside in Terrace Bay with her parents, Mr, and Mrs, Jack Phillips, one and one half years ago. Since coming here she has completed the necessary tests - for the Gold Cord Award under the leader ship of Mrs, M.Middaugh, Guide eS sy = HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY NEWS Those who did not attend the meeting last month missed a very interesting talk by Mr. M.McGoey, The attendance was the smallest to date and it is not very encouraging for a committee if the only ones who attend are the officers. HIGH SCHOOL NEWS -~ By Sandra Locking Saturday, March 7th, Terrace Bay and Schreiber met at Marathon for the annual Badminton Tournament between the schools, The games were played in the Recreation Centre, CURLING NEWS (Cont'd from Page 7) ed - Page 9 Rel with the committee in making the 'Spiel a success, If you're not on a team and would like to curl in the bonspiel sign the list on the board--we may need spares, HIGH SCHOOL - Each school had their own specialities: Marathon, having exceptionally good players who knew every move they made, were a hard team to win from; Schreiber was right in. there trying to beat Marathon to the Cup but they couldn't do it, even with their well- experienced players; Terrace Bay had, shall we say, good school spirit, but the players could not defeat either Marathon or Schreiber although they tried very hard. Many of Terrace!s players were playing for their first year and we have great hopes for them in some future year. At the close of the afternoon, Marathon led with a score of eight points with Schrei- ber right behind, holding seven points. All Terrace!s.efforts were in vain for we didn't obtain any points but we are stilt proud of our team, The Cup was presented by Mrs, Riddell to the Captain of the Marathon team and, follow- ing the lunch, the teams left for their home towns. * BASKETBALL - by Clifford Knauff On March 8th, the Marathon High School _ Boy's basketball. team visited Terrace Bay, Marathon showed excellent ball--handling and passing. The Terrace boys were slowed by the close, but good, refereeing, Marathon. went on to win by 30-15, T. Cooper of Marathon was the stand-out, Especially appreciated were the cheer- leaders from each school. We think ours were the prettier but the Marathon els obviously were more successful, After a lunch, served by the girls, evéry- one went home, tired but happy. ANNUAL PALEFACES VS LUNCHPAILS GAME MARCH 20 This year's annual Palefaces--Lunchpails game-will be played on Friday, March 20th, At the present time the boys are preparing for the game by trying to work into shape-- (some shapes), The Paleface Boys? will be out to avenge last year!s upset, Some new~old faces will be seen in this year's classic affair, The old pros will still be seen plying (flying) up and down | the ice lanes, Honest Ed and Terrible Tony will again be out to continue their perennial feud. The massacre--er Game, will start at' 8 P.M. and is expected to go three periods, | Everyone is welcome, so come on out and support the boys.
