TERRACE Circulation Terrace: Bay & Schreiber MINOR HOCKEY EXECUTIVE DISAPPOINTED To those few parents and many children who attended Minor Hockey Night last Satur- day the Minor Hockey Association wishes to express sincere thanks, To you many who did not attend, may we express our extreme disappointment that you have such little interest in the efforts of your youngsters and of the coaches who put in so much time with your boys. Judging by the poor turnout of sites at Minor Hockey :. Night, and at other Minor Hockey games over the Winter, there are a great many parents in Terrace Bay who have little or no inter- est in the development of their youngsters. ARE YOU ONE OF THEM? How many times have you been out to watch your boy perform? How much interest are you showing in his development? THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN ENCOUR- AGE HIM IS BY GETTING OUT TO SEE HIM PLAY} Saying "I was too busy" is no excuse. Ask- ing parents to attend one game a year, on Minor 'Hockey Night, could hardly be classed as asking too much, Despite the disappointing turnout, oe Minor Hockey Night provided a first-class show. Vincent McInnes opened ceremonies by carrying the Canadian Ensign to centre ice to the accompaniment of a march played by Fred Gould. The Minor Hockey players, 154 strong, then paraded onto the ice and took up their stations. along the playing lines. They presented a stirring sight as they faced the flag while Mr, Gould played 0 Canada, Following the opening ceremonies five games were played, featuring:- -- 1. Two flyweight teams (5-7 years). 2, Peewees: Leafs vs. Black Hawks (8-12 yrs.) 3, Peewees;. Bruins vs.Canadiens (8-12 yrs.) 4, Peewee Allstars (8-12 yrs.) and Bantams 13-15 yrs.) 5, Terrace Bay Midgets vs. Manitouwadge High School, After their games the boys were treated to popcorn and pop supplied by the Ladies! Minor Hockey Auxiliary. The Ladies again did. a tremendous job of handling the Minor Hockey Night programme and deserve great credit for the work they are doing. Thanks go also to Vincent McInnes. and Fred. Gould who made the opening ceremonies so impressive; to the referees, Tony Dela- ronde, Bill Hanley, Frank Hanna and Earl Knight, and to the coaches, who had their boys primed for the occasion, The Ladies Auxiliary also express their thanks to everyone who helped in any way in Vol.2, No.6 MONSTER BINGO co February 12, 1959.
