NORTH SHORE NURSES ELECT NEW OFFICERS On Thursday, January 29th, a meeting of the North Shore Nurses Group was held in the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre, with twenty members present from Marathon, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. Officers were elected for 1959:- Mrs. E. Cruikshank, Terrace Bay, Chairman; Mrs. T. Thompson, Terrace Bay, Secretary-Treasurer; Mrs, F.Manson, Marathon Representative; Mrs. J, Carmichael, Schreiber Representative and Mrs. M,Buck, Terrace Bay Representative, Mrs. F.C.Zettler of Schreiber, the retir- ing Chairman, thanked everyone for their co-operation during 1958, and turned the business of the meeting over to Mrs.Cruikshank Considerable discussion arose concerning the disposition of funds collected in Terrace Bay, Marathon and Schreiber, payable to the male to, con- Mental Health Fund. A new project for 1959 was : discussed, but nothing conclu- Sive was decided. TERRACE HIGH SCHOOL NEWS This weekend, Jan,30 to Feb.1, has been a very busy one for the students of Terr- ace Bay High. On Friday, January 30, Beginning at 9.30, the dance continued until mid- night with the deadline of attendance being 10,30 PLM. Then, on Sunday, arranged by the ESISSA, which looks after the inter-school sports, the Nipigon-Red Rock High School group came down and three games were played; a hockey game, a girl's basket- ball game and a boy's basket ball game. The hockey game was well- played. The Terrace boys were really on the beam, especially the Schock-Fedun-Moore line ' which had excellent passing & team play along with the help of the team. The Nip/Rock cheerleaders added much enjoy- ment to the game. They also won the boy's game 23-20, It was a very hard-fought game, excellent in passing and defense, cheerleaders were out keeping up their stu- dents spirits. After the game, lunch was served and the Nip/Rock players left on 'the long trip home, 'There is just one thing wrong with our North Shore schools. The Terrace Bay students really enjoyed the fun and excitement of competing against Nip/ Rock, but a home-and-home series hardly gives anyone a chance to make friends and then a whole year passes before that acquaintance- ship can be renewed. better to have some games than none, and Nip/Rock gave us moré.than we could handle in basketball.
