ANNIVERSARY ISSUE - This. issue, of the Terrace Bay News con- tains a supplement which commemorates a | decade of progress for the Community and the people of Terrace Pay, Records indicate that a start on the first building in Terrace Bay was made in March, 1946, However, it was ten years ago, on November 12th, 1948, that pulp was first produced at the Kimberly-Clark Mill .. here. It seems, therefore, to be a good time to sit back and review more than ten years of history in the life of Terrace Bay. We appreciate the messages written for this issue which sum up the various aspects of the past and the future for the Commun- ity and its people. - EASTERN STAR ee INSTALLATION SERVICE On Monday evening ithe" 'paae of Sil- ver Birch Chapter No.264, 0.E.S. met in the Community Church Hall at 5430 P.M... and thoroughly enjoyed a Pre-Installation dinner, Chas,Sitch, A.P,, acting as Mas- ' ter of Ceremonies, called. upon the Chap- lain Mrs,T.Young to say Grace. The W.P. 'Harris Haughn gave a toast to the Queen 'and Mrs.M,.Kragero, P.M. proposed a toast to the visitors which was responded to by Miss G, Blanchard of Amity Chapter, Pt, Arthur. At 8,00 P.M, the regular monthly meet ing was called to order with the W.M, and W,.P, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were read and. approved, Treasurer's report adopted and cores dence dealt with. At the conclusion of business the re- tiring officers marched out of the room and incoming officers acsembled, The Installation was very ably con- ducted by P.D.G.M. Mrs.H.Matheson of Amity Chapter, Pt.Arthur, who acted as _ installing Matron; Mrs.).Rummery, P.M. of Silver Birch Chapter, acted as a 'gracious Marshall and stations were occupied by M.Kragero as W.M., B. Haughn as Chaplain, E,Graham as Warder and I, Marsh as organist. During the installation of the W.M, Yra.M,Duguid of Argyle Chapter, Pt peta, sang "I'll Walk Beside You", _ Those. installed as officers of the Chapter for 1958-59 were, H.Wallace, W.M. A.Farrow, A,P, N,Thrower, Cond, L,Harris, Assoc, Cond, A,Bailey, Sec, A,Farrow, Treas., S.Boyd, Chaplain, A,Sinkins, Marshall, -- A,.Bryson, Organ, M,Lundberg, J.Buffet, -T,Young, A.Fraser and E,Beddard, Star Points, L.Corbett, Warder and Mrs,E, Haughn, Sentinal, After the installation 'the new W.M., Mrs.Wallace, thanked those who had taken 'COURT OF REVISION: IN SCHREIBER Reéve DfArcy, with Councillors Caccamo, 'Gordon and Harness and clerk-treasurer R,C, Skinner attended the recent Court of Revis- ion. The following appeals were rejected: Albert Alcorn, Dr. Cornell, Mrs.B.Huller Peter Speziale and R.B.Spadoni, Henry Miller's assessment. was raised. WOMEN TEACHERS MEET IN MARATHON, The annual Fall meeting of the North Shore Association of Public School women teachers was held recently in Marathon with members from Marathon, Terrace Bay and Schreiber pre- sent. Mrs.E.Davis, the president, welcomed the group and gave the Regional meeting report. Mrs.H.Honan reported on her attendance at the annual meeting held in Toronto. Mrs.Davis has been elected to the executive of Region #5 B, which is the North-Shore-western part of Ontario, around the Lakehead, Mrs.A. Laine was the Schreiber representative at this meeting. Attending from Terrace Bay were, Nora Peters, Jean Woods, Camilla Collins and Alvera Wood. SCHREIBER COUNCIL MEETING | Schreiber Council decided to put all 1958 taxes and any from earlier years in the hands ' of the collector and send final notices for 1958 arrears. .If the response to the last is not favourable these also will be put in the hands of the collector. : William Davie was appointed to fill the place on the Rink Committee left open by J.Rummery!s resignation. The application of P,Leyeque to operate a taxi was filed for investigation. A donation was made to the High School prize money fund, Spadoni Bros. were advised that more parking meters are on the agenda for Spring work. _ Information was received regarding hos- pital expenses for indigents and a hospital account debated. Chlorinization of the water supply was _ discussed and additional information will be sought. Water works accounts and General accounts were ordered paid, and'several. items brought to Council's attention by the Clerk, Roat signs were orderd to bring traffic enforce- ment up to the by-law regulation, Nomina-: tion day for local elections was set for November 24th from 7 P.M, to 8 P.M. Election day will be on Dec.8th from 9,00 A.M, to 6 P.M, Advance polls will be hald on December 4th, 5th and 6th from 9,00 A.M. until 5 P.M."
