The results served to drop the Bayites into 4th spot and saw their play-off chances all but disappear. - Saturday night's game started out as if Red Sox might run away with it, but these thoughts were soon dispelled. The Red Sox opened the scoring in the lst with a run as Giardetti walked and scored on an error thru shortstop. The Bays then roared back in the 4th with 3 big runs as Petrie singled 'and Moro walked. BASEBALL BANTERS: Marvin Osmar had a good weekend at the plate in the 2 games as he banged out 4 hits including his 3-run homer clout. He. also appeared to be the only one of few on Sunday who was trying for a win. Errors took the toll for Terrace as both lesses were directly attributable to foolish miscues. Petrie turned in another . steady weekend of ball as he picked up - 3 hits including a booming triple and fielded gracefully. "Nipper" Osmar had a busy night against the Red Sox as he handled 8 chances afield flawlessly. Kit Thomas pitched a nice game Saturday and undoubtedly deserved a better fate. His fielding was also superb as he pers- onally started 2 double-plays. Junior Giardetti of the Sox was a robber in dis- guise in centre field, and should have been arrested for some of his phenomenal catches, He also poled out two long triples. 4 large Terrace representation was in attendance for both of the games at the Lakehead. E.'ers on,Sunday with. 3 timely singles as well as 3 R.B.I.'S 3rd base position was a real hot spot for both Terrace and East Ends as a total of 5 errors were committed there on Sunday, Some of Terrace's base-running Sunday was attrocious as on many occasions the runners appeared to be half asleep. Jim Moro's .310 batting average was tops on the club. Even should the team miss the play-offs, they are to be congratulated for thier hard play in this, their first -- season in the Leaguee It is a general Terrace Bay consensus. that the Red Sox and Westfort seem to be "Buddy-Buddies" as the Sox appear to be deliverately . losing to Westfort to allow them into the Play-offs.
