The amount of money subscribed was $1133.50, more than was contributed in 1957!! Gidicative of the success of the campaign we quote the following from a letter received from the Canadian Red Cross Society, Fort Arthur Branch: - "Your campaign was most successful and we are indeed grateful to you and all those who helped with the canvassing, » Owing. to so. much unemployment we have had a difficult. campaign this. year, and the response of the people in Terrace Bay is greatly appreciated and has given the eanpAten a splendid boost towards success. NEWS - On Sunday evening, May 18th, the annual Membership Tea and social of the Catholic Women's league was held in St.Martin's Church Hall. Father Gallagher opened the meeting with the prayer. Mrs. F. Helmink, president, gave a short talk on the wonderful work of the league. The new executive was then introduced: President - Mrs. F. Helmink, lst Vice-Fresident- Mrs. R. Kenney, 2nd Vice-Iresident - Mrs. A. LeBlanc, 3rd Vice-President - Mrs. J. Marcella, Treasurer -- Mrs. F, Cruickshank, Recording Secretary - Mrs. J. Falzetta, Corresnandine Secretary - Mrs. J. Mrs. -H.Boudreau played a record on Our Lady of Fatima, -The meeting ended with ne ee. eae and blessing. The door prize was won hy Mrs. Rite Newell with the ticket. being drawn by Mrs. Mary rineault. Entertainment was looked after by Mrs. Germaine McMillan. The Quiz prizes were won by Mrs. Verna Vezina, Mrs.. Yolande Boudreau and Mrs. Phil Stuart. Twenty-seven other small prizes were won by ladies in,a card bingo with many laughs by all participating. The oil painting ticket was drawn.by Mrs. Plourde and the lucky winner of this lovely picture was Mrs. Heather Lafontaine. Forty members attended the meeting and social which ended with a delicious luncheon served by Mrs, Ray Belliveau, assisted by Mrs. Faul Rochon, Mrs. Phil Stuart, Mrs. N. Vienneau, and Mrs. Joe Kennedy and Mrs. Jean Santerre,. The evening was enjoyed by all,
