N.S.H.L. (cont'd) We would 'ask 'that itanagers and coaches have 'full control of their 'players during a hockey game. There has'beén far too much rough play lately,' It is felt 'that managers and coaches should instruct 'their, players to curtail rough play and respect 'referees. ' It has been found that most fans would rather watch a player play the "Old Smoothie" type of hockey than the "Bang Them, Shove Them, Hit Them" type. While it is true that players in this League are not being: pdid and.'play . strictly for the sport of the game, I feel tliey should abide strictly to the rules of the game and' show"respect to all officials. ¥ans must be taken into consideration. . They come -olt on cold nights to both support their team financially and cheer them on to win. . Without this support we would not be able .to carry on. We hope all nianagers coaches and players will make every effort in future to clean up the game and thus have good clean hockey. I have yet to see violence ever win, but it can cause injuries and remorse, There are two teams in this league who have systems whereby they lay down their own rules for various offences. For example, one club sits a player out for another ten minutes when that player receives a misconcuct penalty. This type of control.goes a long way to help keep tempers dowh, and penalty boxes empty,. Gentlemen, this League is. very well respected by the T.B,A.H.A., and by teams under its control, "All I ask is. that every. effort be mace to maintain our prestige, and defeat all comers, with good clean hockey; and this year bring the Thunder Bay Champion- Ship to the North Shore. Good. luck to you. all, ght, Sincerely, (signed) J..E. (Ted) Broughton, Vresident , ; NOTH SHOE UOCKEY Li.GUEs
