Staff Changes (cont'd) ..... His desire to get involved in Canada's war effort during the be "p" Company L.S.S.R. Also the Scouts, Cubs second World War (he is a veteran of the first World War) led him to a Personnel Manager's position in a war industry at Owen Sound, Immediately after that assignment he joined the LongLac organization, On Tuesday, September 17th, Mr. J. C. Wig presented Bert with a 35mm, camera, on behalf of Bert's co-workers at the Terrace Bay mill. As Mr, Wig pointed out this gift could only be a token of appreciation for all that Bert has done in the organization of the mill and community. -- For Bert Laundy is truly one of the "fathers" of Terrace Bay. He was the original Chairman of the Improve- ment District Board of Trustees as well as the original Personnel Superintendent at the mill. He was Charter President of the local Kiwanis Club and subsequently a Kiwanis Lt. Governor, Also original Chairman of the School Boards, In fact he was associated most actively in all phases of the original community organizations, And it takes little imagination to appreciate the amount of per- sonal time and effort expended on his part in playing such an active and pioneering type of role in the early days of the new mill «na community which existed here at Terrace Bay, There is no doubt that Bert has left an everlasting impression in this community and on behalf of his many friends, his co- workers and the community as a whole, we extend to him and Mrs, Laundy sincere best wishes for the future. A lot of work and planning has been done to erect the cenotaph and to arrange for this dedication service, so that a large turnout is hoped for, and particularly a large turnout of veterans, So many individuals have helped in the entire erection and planning program, that it would be impossible to name them. However the local Army Unit deserve special mention as through them we nave obtained the services of Major General Megill, D.S.0., C.D., and the R.C.H.A, Band, This has entailed planning of getting quarters available for the Band and looking after other detailed arrangements, The committee responsible for this service report that all arrangements are now finalized, and all that remains is the attendance of a large crowd at the service.
