DIOCESAN CONVENTION HELD IN TERRACE BAY MAY 14 - 15. A busy two days was spent this week when St. Martin's Sub-Division of the Catholic Women's League were hostesses to the Fourth Annual Diocesan Convention on' Tuesday and Wednesday, May 14th and 15th. The choice of a theme for the Convention: "The Christian ilome: Prime Training School of the Social Principles and Social Virtues constantly proclaimed in the Social Doctrine of the Church", by' His Excellency, Most. Rev. E. Q. Jennings, D.D. Bishop of Fort William, was dealt with by ilis Excellency under the sub-heading "Nursery of Lasting Neighbour Relationship" Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon Very Rev. F. R. St. James, V. F. spoke on: "Secding Ground of Social Justice" and at the Banquet Tuesday held in the Iligh School Auditorium tis Excellency choose another branch of the Christian Ilome "World Society in Miniature." . aaa ' Wednesday morning Rev. A.R. Green- grass P.P. of Marathon delivered his address _ on "Seeding Ground of Social Charity" and '.at the Luncheon held Wednesday noon in Hotel Terrace Miss Maureen Black, social case worker spoke on "Neglected Garden - Spoiled Fruit." Wednesday afternoon the highlight was the election of officers to serve the coming year on the Diocesan Council. Duly elected and installed were: Mrs. J..E. Seppala - President; Mrs. H. Badanai - first Vice-President; Mrs. I. L, Obergh - second Vice-President; Mrs. George Cory - third Vice-President; Mrs. Margaret Merchant - Recording Secretazy; Mrs. George Stott - Corresponding Secretary; and Treasurer - Miss Mary Gentile. May 16th Any persons interested in the welfare of our young hockey players should be at the Small Meet- ing Room of the Rec. Centre tonight at 7:30. Purpose of the meeting is to elect the 1957-58 Minor Hockey Executive. Minor hockey is now running as a separate body and needs the full support of all interested parties.
