Any further information req- u@red may be obtained from the Recreation Office, ener ee He Se TERRACE BaY FISH & GAME | ASSOCIATION Six of the local club members attended the spring convention of the Northwestern Ontario Conservation Federation, Zone One, held -at Fort Frances over the past week-end, Simer Persson, and Cliff Woods were the official club delegates and others making . the trip were Tony Deleronde, Charles Hav- iland, Don' Ollén-Bittle and Stan Hodgiiss, Federation, 'vice-president, Four delegates, plus district foresters and conservation officers attended the meetings. A highlight was talks by Dr. H. H: MacKay of Toronto, Dept. of Lands & Forests and Mr. H, V. Swenson of St. Paul, Mind. who are both fisheries experts. These gentlemen also took part in a discussion relative to the control of the lamprey eel, in Lake Superior and told of the steps the U.S. and Canadian governments are'taking to eliminate this predator. Among the resolutions discussed and passed for future presentation to the Provincial. Government were those asking for: (1) Jail sentences for jacklight hunting of deer, in addition to present fines; (2) A uniform moose hunting season for the Thunder Bay district. (3) A motion from George Hambly of the Thunder Bay club that the Prov. Govt. (cont'd next col.) members present, WANTED Fish & Game (cont'd). reinstate the yellow pickerel or walleye fishing season to coincide with that for the north-eastern section of the province, as these fish do not spawn as early in this district as in the Rainy River district. This motion was given unanimous anproval. The Zone One trophy for outstanding achievement in promoting conservation in 1956 went to the Great Lakes Club of Fort William. Included in convention business were reports on Leke Superior fishing by Tony Delaronde, inland geme fish by Nelson Allen and the Federation educational program by Stan.
