Silver Birch Chapter No.264, Order of the Eastern Star, held a Banquet on Monday evening in the Terrace Bay Comm-- unity Church, honouring their District Deputy Grand Matron, Cora E. Parkhill of Red Lake, on her official visit. Fifty-five members and guests en- joyed a dinner which was convened by Sister Agnes Sinkins and her Committee of Sisters Winifred McKechnie, Elsie Stevens, Janet Hall, Eva Haughn, Marjorie Ar'terson, Sadie Gaulin and Gladys Sitch. Colours of the Order were the motif with red roses as centrepiece and white tapers in crystal candls°-:xa, Toast- master chairman for the occasion was Brother Alex Sinkins, W.P., who called upon H. Haughn, Assoc.Patron, to pro- pose the toast to the Queen. Toast to the Grand Chapter was proposed by Bro, A.Farrow, P,P. and responded to by D.D.G.M. Sister Cora Parkhill. Toast to the visitors was proposed by Chas, Sitch, P.P. with response by Sister Pearl Bell, member of the Grand Chapter Executive of Port Arthur, Ontario. Following the Banquet, a meeting of Silver Birch Chapter was held, with W.M. Margaret Kragero and W.P. Alex Sinkins, presiding. GIRL GUIDES The local Girl Guides Association, as a means of raising funds, are bringing to Terrace Bay on April 1st, the Wrench collection of historical demi-puppets and dolls in authen- tic period costumes. This was donated by Miss Wrench, who is a @ister of Sir Evelyn Wrench, founder of the English speaking Union. This collection has toured Great Britain where it successfully raised funds for the Girl Guide Association. It has now been very kindly donated to the Girl Guides of Canada and after its present Canadian tour will go to New Zealand and Australia under the auspices of the Girl Guides of our two fellow Commonwealth countries, LOCAL GUIDE ASSOCIATION The orders for the Easter Eggs from the Local Association must be in by the 30th of March, The eggs are priced at Thirty-Five and Fifty Cents with an additional charge of Twenty Cents if you wish this in an Easter Basket.
