TERRACE BAY MEN'S CHORUS TO PRESENT FIRST ANNUAL FALL CONCERT FRIDAY, DEC. 7,AT 8:1 The Terrace Bay Men's Chorus will present their third annual concert on Friday, December 7th in the Terrace Bay High School Auditorium, commencing at 8:15 Pelle This local group was formed in Sept. 1953 and with music loaned by the Fort William male Chorus began rehearsals the following month. Miss B, MacAdam conducted the chorus during its first and formative year. In May, 1954 the Male Chorus presented the first of their annual concerts to the people of Terrace Bay, In June, 1954 this group of singers attended the Big Sing of the Associated Male Choruses of America (Upper Midwest District) held in Fort William as a guest of the host chorus. Two solo numbers were rendered by the Terrace Bay Men's Chorus. The Chorus participation in this Big Sing marked the end of their activities for the first successful year, Fall rehearsals began in October of the same year under the capable direction of Bert Lohr, In December, they did honors to sing in the opening of the new Rec, ' Centre. This Chorus was once again represented at the 1955 Big Sing in Rochester, Minn. This group of male singers were now making a good name of themselves, both in Canada and the U.S.A. by their performance as a solo chorus. While out of town for the Rochester Big Sing,. they also participated in a second concert in Cadotte, Wisc., where they were joined by several other member choruses of the A.M.C.A. to present a most impressive account of their ability to join together (Cont. on next col.) Shortly after their return to Terrace Bay, the group thrilled a most appreciative audience in their second annual concert. Chorus engagements were also filled in Marathon and Red Rock in May and June, 1955, and chorus recognition was most favorable, Chorus rehearsals began again in September, 1955, in preparation to attend the Big Sing of the A.M.C.A. in St. Paul, Minn. This sing was held in conjunction with the St. Paul Winter Carnival held in February, 1956, To be continued. 0-0-0 TERRACE BAY HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA NIGHT NOVEBER 30, 1956 This year, in an effort to raise money for the many extra curricular activities with other schools in this area, the pupils of the High Schoel are staging three one-act plays, to help raise money for these worth while activities, The Drama Night will see the students from the High School in action, Apart from the monetary viewpoint this endeavour should be interesting and educative, It is hoped that the parents of the High School students and all members of the Commmity will do their best to be in attendance on November 30th, Tickets are now being prepared for this event and a student from the High School will be calling on you within the next few days.
