yATHOLIC WOMEN HOLD SUCCESSFUL FALL BAZAAR The Catholic Women's | League held a very successful fall bazaar on Saturday in St. Martin's Church basement, Convening the bazaar was irs. Stella LeBlanc. The door prizes were well dis- tributed with first prize of fifty dollars going to Mrs, M. Brassard of Rossport, second prize of a chest of silverware won by Mrs, George Williamson of 649 Hodder Avenue, Port Arthur, and the third prize of 'a woollen blanket won by George Daniels of Terrace Bay. Mrs, Mary Hale was in charge of the door draw. A quilt was raffled by lirs. Louise Stewart and this was won by a Schreiber lady, Mrs. Leona Leisander, and lirs, Yolande Boudreau raffled off a bride doll which went to Mrs. Len Pineault of Terrace Bay, The tea table was tastefully arranged with an African violet on a hand lace cloth and pouring during the afternoon were tary Dashkewytch, Germaine licMillan, Sheila Todd and Stella LeBlanc, Tea convenor was "rs, Joey Semeniuk,. Throngs of ladies, gentlemen and child~ ren kept the booth convenors very active during the afternoon, A prize for the most attractively arranged booth went to irs, Alma Marcella who had the religious articles, Mrs, Eva Connors handled the novelty table; Mrs. Rose Corrigan the knitting; Mrs. Evelyn Falzetta the bake table; irs. Kay Anderson the fish pond; Mrs, Ray Kenney the candy table; parcel post was Mrs, Ann Latour and the apron booth was handled by Mrs. Don Boudreau and irs, Willard Vezina. During the evening a very busy bingo was convened by Mrs. H, Newell with chickens as the prizes, making it an especially popular pastime. 0-0--0 OPENING OF WAGHORN'S PHARMACY Another addition to Terrace Bay's shopping centre was opened recently when Waghorn's Pharmacy officially launched their new Drug Store located on Simcoe Plaza, adjacent to the Post Office, For the previous five years, Waghor:'s had rented a small shop. This new Pharmacy, managed by Lionel Waghorn and his staff of itiss Marty leek, Mrs, Natalie Coates and Miss Rosalind Savoy is associated with Rexall Drugs and a most modern contribution to this little town, The building, 24 ft. by 57 ft., is constructed of cement block with walslok reinforcing, steel joists and "I" beams (Cont, on next col.) The front, with windows completely across, is of American Cameo-Roman Brick, Indirect lighting and rip-l-lite is used very effectively within the interior mainly finished in pegboard, The display counters are arranged for self- selection to facilitate the customers, A complete basement bencath and apartment above the drugstore is all steam- heated from the Central Heating Plant in Terrace Bay. All in all, a worthy addition supplying a needy service to this up-to-date town, For the opening ceremonies, LongLac Pulp and Paper Company Ltd. were gracious in sending a huge basket of flowers and Waghorn's themselves presented each lady customer with a rose, Door prizes were also awarded for the first three days to ladies and gentlemen, Winners of these were: Mir, J. P. Bourguignon of Schreiber received a Bachelor Shave Set; Mrs. Gordon (Sparky) Black received a Tiffany Cosmetic Set; Mrs, Jessie Ratchford received a Faberge Por?umy Ensemble; Mr, Bill Hanley a Bachelor Shave Set; Mrs, W.
