RECIPE OF THE WEEK ROSY FRUIT COBBLER FRUIT SAUCE 1-1/4 cups sugar 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1/h teaspoon ground cloves af a cup orange juice i cup water " 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1-1/2 pounds washed rhubarb, cut in va ' l-inch pieces, ie BISCUITS 2 cups sifted flour 1/4 cup sugar (for dough) 5 * teaspoons baking powder i teaspoon salt iG tablespoons shortening i cup milk 2 tablespoons sugar (for topping) Grated rind of 1 orange Make FRUIT SAUCE: Blend sugar, cornstarch and cloves in large saucepan; stir in orange juice and water. Bring to boiling, stirring con- stantly, until sugar dissolves; add butter or margarine and rhubarb; remove from heat, Prepare BISCUITS: Measure flour, sugar (for dough), baking powder, and salt into sifter; sift into bowl, Cut in shortening with pastry blender wntil mixture is crumbly. Add milk; stir with fork just until blended. (Dough will be soft) -- Heat rhubarb mixture to boiling; pour into a large baking dish, 10-cup size; spoon biscuit topping in 8 mounds over top of fruit. Combine sugar (for topping) and orange rind ; sprinkle over biscuits, Bake in hot oven (450°F) 25 min- utes, or unti rhubarb is tender and bis- cuits are glistening brown. Twelve guests were present and enjoyed making a bride's scrap book depicting the life of the bride, past, present and future. The gifts were hidden under a decorated umbrella, and the evening concluded with a lovely luncheon, Donna Brown celebrated her ninth birthday Saturday afternoon with the aid of eight of her friends. Outdoor games were played before a birthday luncheon was served by Mrs. Ted Brown. MacPhail of Vancouver arrived last Thursday for a visit with her daughter Fran Herron. and family, enroute to Toronto and New York, On Thursday, June 2nd a surprise Baby Shower was held for Mrs, Jack Little at the home of Mrs. Art Connors, The house was appropriately decorated for the occasion and surprisingly, the Honored Guest was actually surprised, Mrs, Little received many lovely gifts.
