One odd thing about this wave of gardening enthusiasm is that it is by no. means confined to areas where gardening is natural' and easy. Communities in Northern Manitoba and Western' Ontario - towns built on rock and muskeg, where every pailful of soil has to be wheeled in - are succumbing to the lure of the garden, There is "good medicine" in contact' with the soil - some strange power which relaxes the nerves - something which refreshes and invigorates the spirit, and leaves a man serene and unafraid. The poet Kipling, himself a keen gardener, must have had something like this in mind when he wrote: "Oh, Adam was a gardener, And God, who made him, sees That half a proper gardener'ts work Is done upon his knees," + 0-0-0 BRUSH STROKES FROM THE ART CLUB The regular monthly meeting of the Terrace Bay-Schreiber Art Club was held last Thursday, March Ist, at the Rec.
