SCHREIBER VS TERRACH BAY ALL~OUT DRIVE BY POLICE FORCES CUT TRAFFIC FATALETIES-ACCIDENTS BY Reduction of traffic accidents and re- sulting deaths in Ontario by as much as 50 per cent, during the next year is the ob- jective of the Provincial Government's "Traffic Safety Through Law Enforcement" campaign which started on November lst, under direct of Attorney-General A. Kelso Roberts, QC. The launching of this drive against traffic infractions and resulting traffic accidents was marked by appeals on the part of Lieutenant-Governor Louis 0. Breithaupt, Premier Leslie M. Frost and other provincial leaders to the public for co-operation. The campaign is headed by Attorney- General A, Kelso Roberts and Highways Minister James N, Allan, Assisting them is a committee made up as follows: Senior Solicitor HE, H. Silk of the' Attormey~ General's Department; Motor Vehicles Registrar J. P. Bickell of the Highways Department; Chief Constable C. W,. Farrow of Windsor; and Senior Staff Inspector W. C. Clark of the Ontario Provincial Police, who has been appointed Ontario's traffic safety director. Inspector Clark has been given wide powers to co-ordinate the work of the OPP in the matter of traffic law enforcement. Chief Constable Farrow of Windsor, who is an official of the Ontario Chief Constables! Association is handling liaison with chief constables throughout the Province, Since November lst, the resources of the Pr.vincial Police and of municipal forces throughout Ontario are on a 24-hour watch for lawbreaking motorists.
