REC IPE" OF:- WEEK STUFFED CABBAGE medium head cabbage onion strips bacon lb, ground lamb shoulder tsp. salt Few grains pepper 5 tbs. ketchup 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce Cover cabbage with large amount of boiling salted water; boil 30 min. Drain; cool, Carefully remove centre. Mince onion; dice 2 strips bacon; cook together until brown. Add lamb; cook 5 min. Add salt, pepper, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce; stuff cabbage. Place in greased baking dish, Cover; bake in moderate oven (350°F.) 35 min. Goswell of Brantford, Ontario passed away on May 4th, Mrs, Soughton and daughter Ruth returned home from Brant- ford last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Findlay of Port Archur spent the long weekend with the Bill Herrons, Kae Anderson and Vange Slattery werein the Lakehead last weekend to attend the Guide Training Camp held at Chippawa Park under Miss Mary Horncastle. Twenty-nine leaders' were in attendance from this area, and both leaders felt the programme would be of great value during Guide Camp at Marathon. Isabelle Craig was a guest of the Harry Ward's of Fort William last weekend. Mr, and Mrs, C. J. Haviland of Ronceau, Ontario arrived last Saturday to visit for the week with their son Chuck and family. The Bill Wainikka!'s had Vi's Mother, Mrs. V. Irwin and her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs, E,.S. Irwin, all of Port Arthur for the long weekend, Betty Ollen-Bittle with Judy and Jimmy returned home Sunday after a week in Port Arthur with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, A. McCallum. She was accom- panied by her sister, Catharine McCallum now a resident of Los Angeles, California, who is spending the summer in Canada, 0-0-0 GUIDES AND BROWNIES The regular monthly meeting of the Local Association was held on May 23rd. Commissioner Maitland was in the chair. The attendance was poor, The Mother and Daughter Banquet and Miss Homcastles visit on May 30th were discussed. Reports from various convenors were heard. Plans for the Mother and Daughter Banquet' on May 28th at the Hotel Terruce are progressing favourably. Girls should get their names and money for tickets in by Wednesday at the very latest. Mrs. Cavanaugh has to have the table arrangement completed early, The dinner is set for 6730, Saturday will be a big day for Guides and Brownies in Terrace Bay as the 28th is also Cookie Day. The girls are requested to meet at the St, Martins Church Basement at 9:00 a.m. to receive the cookies, These girls will be delivering the cookies to your door ladies, receive them with a smilel, (Cont. on.page 5)
