CREDIT UNION NEWS (Cont.) come together to get by group action what they could not get alone, that. before they can accomplish anything really worthwhile, they must have at least a minimum amount of money with which to work, They find too, that their only source of cash, excevt at usurious interest rates, is their own meagre earn- ings and savings. But when they put those savings together in Credit Unions, they find to their surprise that by united action over a period of time, they can build up sizeable amounts with which they can lay the financial foundations of co-operative enterprises which change almost miraculously their whole con- dition of life. They have become free men and women. This is essentially why Credit Unions are formed and why there had been such outstanding growth among them, Give some thought and in- quire about the Credit Union in this community. 'A dated roster will be posted at the Curling Club - every skip and third will be approached by the executives' of the club to sign his name opposit a, convenient date to umpire, either for one draw or two. The. umpire will be expected to be at the rink at that time or find a substitute in case of emergency. There are 60 members who willbe. called upon to umpire, Each man will probably only have to umpire one evening for. the remainder of the year. So come on fellows - let's co-operate. FEES Second half of the 1954-55 fees ($10.00) The deadline for the payment of the remainder of the fees is set as being prior to the beginning of the next round of play. When the present round of play is ' complete all members must be fully paid members before curling in the next round. DIVISION PLAY At a meeting of the Curling Club Directors the following decision was reached, The division curling will continue, At an undesignated time the President and Draw Committee Chairman were authorized, prior to the round, to designate it as the last round of curling. The last round of the division curling will be a double round robin, Tota]. accumulated points 'at the end of the double round robin will determine the group winners, - BONSPIEL Tentative plans were made by the Directors to hold an open Bonspiel on April 15, 16 and 17th... Twenty outside rinks is the target (2 rinks from any one outside club as a maximum), Twelve local rinks for a total of 32 rinks, Four events are planned, Watch the News for further development.
