RECIPE OF THE WEEK SWEETHEART COOKIES 173 cup shortening x cup brown sugar, packed 2 eggs, well-beaten 1/3 cup milk 4 cup seedless raisins 2 cups sifted pastry flour 21/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/3 teaspoon salt 2/3 teaspoon mace 1/3 teaspoon .cinnamon x cup bran flakes Grease baking sheets, Heat oven to 375 degrees F, Blend shortening and sugar, Add beaten eggs, milk and raisins and mix well, Sift flour with baking powder, salt and spices and add to batter along with bran flakes, Drop by spoonfuls on greased bak-~ ing sheet, Bake in moderately hot oven for about 10 minutes, (Makes about 3 1/2 dozen) 0-0-0 STORK CLUB Congratulations this week go to Mr, and Mrs, Stanley Matuszak on the birth of a son on May 13th, ) o-0-0 AROUND THE TOWN 'Mrs. F, Harvey will return to her home in Fort William this weekend, follow- ing a two week visit with her daughter and son--in-law, Tops and Dave Locking and family. Betty Ollen-Bittle returned home last weekend with Judy and Jimmy after visitng with her parents, Mr, and Mrs, A. McCallum of Port Arthur the past ten days, Wally Fischer and Ernie Schock visited at Kapuskasing last weekend, and brought Ernie's Mother, Mrs, "4, Schock, back to Terrace Bay where she will be the guest of Ernie and his family. ' Inez and Art Reynolds wers Lakehead visitors last weekend, as were also Alex Chisholm, Sid Spencer and Jim Clancy, Louise Farrow visited with hsr parents, Mr, and Mrs, Ab Farrow last week~ end before returning to McKellar Hospital where she is in training. Louise had just finished three month of her training in a Brockville hospital, and enjoyed visits to Toronto and many of the surrounding cities and towns while there, Mr, F, Fedyk of Keewatin, Ontario, is spending a few we-ks in Terrace Bay -Visiting with his daughters MrsaJ, W. "Garriock and Mrs, S, Erickson, Joe Mousseau returned from visiting his wife in St. Joseph's Hospital, Port Arthur on Wednesday and reports that she is now holding her own. 0-0-0 FIREWORKS DISPLAY MONDAY We sure hope that you have made your plans to attend the giant Fireworks Display out at the Waterfront at the Hydro Dam, back of the Mill. We have had an opport- unity to look over the assortment of Rockets, -- Bombsheils, Flares, etc,, that have now been received from Toronto, and can guarantee that this year's display will have more appeal, to young and old, than ever before, ' Motorists will be requested to use the traffic and parking directions that they will receive as they approach the Waterfront area, As a suggestion to the colour photo~ graphy fans, don't forget to take your camera along! Here is a real challenge to some of you "experts". A coloured fire- works display would look pretty good on some of those transparencies, .
