DREAM \ Deborah Ker: 1 Me PY NEN (Colour \ atarring ' ith an Robertson ES A in Colour wi \ "KLASKAN adult) i ) a pate i MINOR HOCKEY WIND-UP Eighty~five Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget Hockey players of Terrace Bay wound up their season Saturday evening, May 15th, when the Terrace Bay Hockey Association feted them to a banquet, awards and pic- tures at the Hotel Terrace, Chairman Ed Cavanaugh, President of the Terrace Bay Hockey Association, gave the young hockey players their greatest surprise of the evening when he asked Joe Adamo to introcuce four special guests, hockey notables Detroit Red Wings! Alex Delvecchio, New York Rangers! Edgar LaPrade Chicago Black Hawks! Lee Fogolin and Boston Bruins! Dave Creighton, who from that moment throughout the evening, were be- seiged by the youthful players for auto- graphs, Joe Adamo further introduced guests Fred Brigano of the Lakehead and Ken Davis, Convenor for Minor Hockey in the Thunder Bay District, Ed Cavanaugh then introduced rep- resentatives of the different organizations in Terrace Bay who finance and support the teams, Messrs. Bert Laundy, Board of Trustees, Don Porter, LongLac Pulp and Paper Co, Ltd., Joe Marcella Separate School, Meredith Nelson, Kiwanis, Ted Brown, Local 665 and Gordon Rowlandson Recreation Committee, He then continued to thank all members of the Hockey Association for their co-operation in helping to make the past year's hockey so successful, He urged also, that although the new Arena would be in use for future hockey, the young players have their fathers build outdoor rinks in their (Cont on next col.) Page 3 MINOR HOCKEY WIND-UP (Cont. ) back yards for the purpose of gaining further stick handling and skating abilities, Bert Laundy gave a short address in - which he thanked Gordon Rowlandson and the Recreation Committee for their fine job and gave.his best wishes to the boys that they continue their sporting type of play. Gord Rowlandson expressed his apprec- iation for the support he was given by the Recreation Committee and the coaches of the various teams. Ray Kenney, Chairman of the Minor League, before naming the awards, thanked Dave Locking, principal of the Con-- tinuation School for his support of the Midget League, Charlie Briggs, principal of the Public School for his support of the Pee Wee League and Dr. Hugh Campbell for his support of the Bantam League. He also expressed special thanks to the men who ' turned out to coach the boys regardless of adverse weather, These were Tony Fedun, Dr. Hugh Campbell, Harold Marsh, Conley MacDonald, Heck McLeod, Jim MacDonald, Harold Newell, Ken McLeod and George Robin- son, The Midget Hockey Trophy won by Terrace Bay against Schreiber was accepted by Cap~ tain Jack Marsh from Bill Louk on behalf of the L & L Groceteria, donaters of the trophy, The Pee Wee Trophy was awarded to Captain Vincent McInnes of the Pee Wee Champions, Chicago Black Hawks by Edgar LaPrade,. In the most valuable players awards Ronnie Schock of the Pee Wee League was awarded a pair of skates by Lee Fogolin from the Chicago Black Hawks, Runner up Norm Vezina received an autographed photo- graph of Rocket Richard from Ossie Dalzell, Bantam Bobby Adamo received a hockey trophy from Dave Creighton of the Boston Bruins. Goalie Jack Little, runner up, also received a Maurice Richard autographed picture, Mid- get Dan Kenney was presented with a Detroit Red Wing Jacket by Alex Delvecchio. Jack Marsh, runner up, received an autographed photo of Canadien's Richard. Dr. Hugh Campbell presented each of the Bantam players with a group picture of their team, Films of the N.H.L. 1951-52 Stanley Cup Playoffs, through the courtesy of !
