CURLING NEWS PAUL BOUDREAU'S RINK WIN NORTHWESTERN Paul Boudreau's foursome defeated Rune Ostling in a very close game for the right to represent Terrace Bay in the district play downs at Marathon, 'The winner at Marathon advances to play downs at the Lake- head --the winner from there to Sudbury - to decide a representative for Northwest Ontario in the Canadian playdown for the MacDonald Brier Cup, There were four rinks entered the local play down and Paul Boudreau and Rune Ostling were tied in the round robin with 2 wins each. The play off took place on Saturday, For most part of the game it looked like a vin for Ostling as after ten ends of play the Ostling rink was four-up. But the Boudreau rink cracked a five ender on the eleventh end putting them one up going home. Paul Boudreau's rock in the eleventh had a little of lady luck along. Paul tried a aitttoult shot, to move the Ostling counter, his rock had lots of weight and when the smoke cleared there was a five ender, On the twelfth end Ostling was just - short of tieing up the game and Boudreau counted 2 more.
