THE GUNNER'S COLUMN It's hard to believe that summer is almost over end the time is here to start our Fall and Winter training programme, Novertheless, it is and we'll have to gather our members back into the fold and start enowy Judging by the amount of comment, the fellows who went to summer camp this year enjoyed it so much, they've asked for a trip back. At least, we'll try to see that they get back. Our long-sought rifle and Bren gun range should be ready by October 1st, the ommunition is on order so it won't be long now till we're out there, Plans are in the making for some com- petitive shooting between - tenm from our unit and some other teams, {nother item of interest is that our Chemical Warefare Instructor Set, Jim Cumm~ ing will conduct a course on this subject especially for those who are interested in thet type of training. <A gas chember is now aveileble for this purpose. We have lots of other interesting things that we'd like to take on butwe need more men before we cen do so, /11 persons interested are cordially invited to enlist and be prepared to take part in all activ- ities, Recruiting takes place on Tuesday and Thursdey evenings at 7:15 p.m. so come elong you fellows with time on your hands and enjoy comradeship, trnining and the benefit of prey. We heve one for inspection at the 4rmouries in the South Comp; come on over and have a look at it, o-0-0 FISH & G.ME MEETING TUESD.Y The regular monthly meeting of tho Fish & Game Club will be held in the Recrea- tion Hell on Tuesday, September 18th at 7:30 pem. iS the mombership of this club now borders on.the 80 mark, a good turnout is expocted, in effort is presently being made to procure « film on wild-life to be shown at this meeting, o-0-0 NOON HOUR MOVIES The reguler programme of lunch-hour movies will be resumed this week when our first set of films will be shown at 12:15 in the Mrin Locker Room in the Mill on Friday and agnin in the Cafeteric at noon on Monday, 0-0-0 Page 4 {ROUND THE TON Your roving reporter spent . few hours one dey last week going nround the Townsite looking over the new projects and if you don't think that Terrace Bay is coming into its own, all you have to do is go and take a look-see, The new Community Church is well into the advanced stages and certainly will be an asset to the Community when completed, The new hospital is nearing completion in leaps and bounds and if the present pace is kept up, it should be completed before the end of October, The new sub-division west of the Hotel is making fast progress with some of the new houses already painted with their first coat, The new streets are well under construction with the installation of sewage, water and Hydro well in hand by the contractors, South of the Hotel and new Hospital, a complete new road has been build to provide access to the location of the new sewage disposal plant, made necessary by the creation of a new sub-division, Already a vast area has been cleared there also to allow a new tile-field to be installed. In addition to all of the fore-going, preparations are now being mede to build en additionel 28 garages to be ready for this winter, 14 of these garages will be in the new sub-division and the other 14 will be divided up in the existing Townsite nt the garage compound locations on Birch Crescent, corner of Hudson & Selkirk and the corner of Laurier & Selkirk, It is elso expected that construction will start shortly on a-building in the Town- site to house the new LongLac telephone equip- ment, This will most certainly be a most welcome addition as it will mean that a lot more telephones will be availcble to Townsite residents, Briefly, the town is rapidly coming into its own, | you out of | hil business '¢ IF you get FIRST AIDE ' , $ atts
