Reasons for these have been found due to failure to observe normal precautions or momentary forgetfulness of the added hazard during this season, From the experience of those who were victims here are suggestions for fire prevention, which, if observed, will greatly lessen the chances that fire will take a disastrous toll this Christmas, Flammable decorations should be kept to a minimum, They provide fuel for a rapid fire from any source of ignition, Metal, glass, or asbostos decorations should be preferred in any selection, The flame proofing treatment for paper and fabrics is available at low cost. In public buildings flammable decorations should be prohibited, Electric lighting circuits for illuminating cf Christmas trees should be examined for defects in plugs and fuses, for breaks and damage to the cords, Location and support of the tree is important, It should be well away from fire places, stoves, heaters, and light bulbs, and far distant from exit doors, The tree should be well supported, preferably with metal rods or wires, Gmoking habits are particularly important because of the quantities of wrappings and decorations, as well as the trees, that might become involved, Matches and lighters should not be used near a tree, Children are the usual victims, Thoy need supervision when temptation is present and every precaution should be taken to make sure that they cannct reach matches or remove lighted candles, or have their own garments or toys involved in fire, Santa has an obligation to bring them > safety as woll as Christmas presents. Let us ring Christmas bells, not fire bells this Christmas, o-0-0 DAYDRE,MING ON THE JOB BREEDS ACCIDENTS Ve are coming to the time cf the year when it is so easy to let our minds wander to some of the many things we plan to do during the Christmas Season, In its place there's nothing wrong with a bit of day- dreaming, but such behaviour has no place fon the job", £11 too many accidents are caused because we fail to concentrate on .the job at hand, "I just wasn't thinking about what I was doing", is the statement often made by an injured worlaan at an accident investi- gation. We should all, therefore, plan to do our day-dreaming in an easy chair. It's much Safer and will go a long way toward assuring a happy Christmas Season. LET'S HAVE AN ACCIDENT-FREE DECEMBER.
