£50UI THIS baxN DANCE Some time ago, we, of the local Canadian Legion Branch decided to stage 2 dance that would long be remembered, We hit upona Barn Dance because of the free-and-easy style of these affairs and also we felt that it would give everybody a chance to 'Let their hair dow", : We have gone to great lengths to adver- tise this affair - but we still get the odd question, -- so, here is the complete "Gen", 1. Dencing will start at 10:00 p.m., Nov. 24th, in the Recreation Hall and will finish at 2:00 a.m. : 2. Joe Adamo's Orchestra -will provide the Music in their better-than-ever style. 3. The first hour of the Dance (10-11) will be devoted to Waltz music only. (NO foxtrots, etc.). But, from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. there will be foxtrots, Waltzes, Squares and old time music. 4. Dancing will be continuous -- there will not be any long intermission for lunch as- at ordinary dances, 5. Everyone MUST dress in Farm type clothes such as overalls, coveralls, slacks, ging- ham dresses, Aprons, etc. If either one of e@ couple is not dressed as Farmers, then, we will weigh the girl and charge the man one cent per pound EXTRA. So, if you come ina suit coat or the least bit dressed-up, be prepared to pay the fine. Stags will be charged the weight of the next girl to enter the hall, if not in costume. (Why, we would even suggest an OLD shirt, with suspenders, etc, ) 6. There will not be any chairs availeble in the main hall. You'll be surprised to see how sitting on the floor destroys all social barriers and shyness?!! 7, We will have straw hats and corn cob pipes for sale and the prices will be very reasonable, 8. We'll give appropriate prizes for cos- tumes, Maybe, not to the best costumes,-= but a prize, nevertheless. If we said that the prizes are for the best costumes, we feel 7. that some people may goto an expense to get costumes, 'Ve do not want you to do this. 9. The lunch will be served Cafeteria style. You'll only pay for what you choose, We are attempting to secure such farm goodies as pickled pigs knuckles, sweet cider or apple juice, The sandwiches will definitely NOT be tea-party sandwiches! 10. Soft drinks will be available all nite. 11. The Boy Scouts will check you coats, etc. and all we ask you to do is please be gene- rous with your tip because they do work hard. 12. "CLEM" the farmer will be at the dance, We won't tell who he is, but, he'll give 5.00 to the first person who shakes his hand and says "Howdy Clem", The only way for we ta 460 } you to locate him is by the process of elimination,-i.e.- shaking hands and saying "Howdy Clom" to everyone in the Hall. If he is found out early in the evening we'll set someone else up as "Mew" and then you'll heve to shake hands with every girl and say 'Howdy Maw". To get the money, you have to follow the above rules to the letter, 13. We'll have the raffle for the chicken during the dance, Maybe it will be dead, and maybe it won't bet! 've know, - but we Neaintt" telling!! Whichever way it is, you're going to get something that you won't be able to put in your pocket?! 14.
